As gen-AI becomes more normalized (Chappell Roan encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.

I keep thinking about that moment in the last stand where gorgug keeps critting against the purple worm and Brennan says “you are single-handedly holding this purple worm at bay, exactly what a barbarian is meant to do.” The fact that he is, by narration, performing not only well but EXCEPTIONALLY by the standards of his designated role in an adventuring party, not despite but BECAUSE of, specifically, the work of aritificing that is his heavy metal axe. Its special prone ability ENHANCED his ability as a barbarian to draw fire and protect his party. Without this union of artificing and rage, this wouldn’t have worked. And then the detail being called out IN NARRATION to prove how wrong porter is. Gorgug is not wasting potential. He’s not failing to be a barbaian because of artificing. He is EXCELLING. He’s doing EXACTLY what a barbarian should do, and doing it in his own, incredible, exceptional way. He’s fucking killing it. And by it I mean the purple worm and also porter’s fuckass attitude.
