when i need a lol i remember that clary dated jace for 15 days then learned they were RELATED so they she fell in love with simon who’d loved her for a decade but then they broke up 7 days later because she couldn’t forget her one true love jace and simon fell in love with maia after maia had 👀👀👀 with jace but just one time so no biggie and simon and maia had a beautiful blossoming relationship for 9 days but then maia’s ex jordan returned and somehow got in the middle of things and then simon decided maia hadn’t been there for him in his traumatic times and that isabelle had been there even though maia was just taking care of herself but sure jan okay and so simon and maia parted ways and so simon and izzy started making goo goo eyes at each other just like they did when they first met at the beginning of this all except back then izzy was with meliorn and then raphael because they had a drug thing and maybe real feelings but who knows and then charlie for 0.3 days before simon and izzy made it official except HA she caught on fire when they kissed meanwhile clary is back with jace who also kinda secretly thinks meliorn is hot.

also magnus and alec met and got married.

and that all happened in 4 months and 27 seconds.

Requested by @crispyoperawolfdean: Post 3x22 where Clary’s art show is going on and Malec goes there too. And they’ve been to her art shows quite a few times and every time she sees them and just feels her heart warm for whatever reason and she watches them from afar everytime but can’t keep it in finally and then goes to them and tells them they’re really cute and all. (Maybe there’s Blueberry Max too with them this one time) also the wedding painting maybe

Clary is tired, she was up all night trying to finish her last painting for her art show. She shouldn’t have procrastinated so long. The worst part about the whole thing is the fact that she has to appear cool and collected when all she wants do is take a nap. She smiles and says hello to her guests as they enter. She walks over to one of her favorite paintings, she knows that people will ask questions about it. It is a more abstract piece, that has a blend of many colors like yellows and reds. People always ask her what she was thinking about when she makes her paintings, and she wishes she could tell them. The painting, just like a lot of her art, just came to her in dreams.

“What a beautiful painting,” says an older woman.

“Thank you, that’s really sweet,” as she replies, her eyes go to the couple entering. They’ve been to several of art shows now, but she feels awkward with the thought of trying to go up to them. She doesn’t know why, but seeing them makes her feel warm inside, almost as if she’s known them for a while. Maybe she was just happy that they are so in love. They’re always close to one another, if not touching.

She notices a flash of blue, she blinks a couple of times before realizing that one of the men with messy, dark hair is carrying a baby. His husband, kisses the baby on the top of the head before kissing the man carrying the baby on the cheek.

Wow, Clary thinks to herself. I wish I had someone that adores me so much.

For the next thirty minutes, her attention is directly on them. She tries to stay present in the moment, but it is hard. There’s just something about them, they feel familiar, like family. Finally, she can’t keep herself still any longer, she excuses herself and walks towards them. When she sees the man with messy hair visibly tense at the sight of her, she starts to reconsider. Maybe they aren’t as friendly as they seem. She sees that flash of blue again in his arms, but as she focuses all she can see is the baby. This is getting weird. She turns around when she hears someone behind her, “You doing okay, miss?” says a smooth voice.

She turns and sees the man with eyeliner smiling warmly at her. “Yeah, I just keep seeing things.”

“As do many great artists.”

She chuckles, “Yeah, I guess. I’ve seen you and your husband at my shows a few times. You two are really cute.”

“Thanks, you’re too kind. Alec and I are quite the fan of yours,” he extends his hand. “I’m Magnus.”

“Clary,” she shakes it.

“Nice to finally meet you.”

Alec walks up to them, his eyes shifting between her and Magnus. It’s almost as if he’s uncertain of something. Magnus gives him a look, then he smiles at her, “Alec, I would shake your hand, but my arms are a bit full at the moment.”

She looks at the baby, who is wrapped snugly in a blanket, fast asleep.

“What’s their name?”

“His name is Max,” Alec says, smiling down at his son. “We adopted him a few weeks ago.”

“Congratulations, he’s really cute.” Maybe that’s why Alec was so tense when she was walking up to them, maybe he’s really protective over his baby.

Magnus points to her favorite painting, “I haven’t seen that one before, is it apart of your new collection.”

“Yeah, do you want to get a better look at it?”

“Sure.”

They follow her to the painting and when she turns to face them, she sees that they both have a surprised look on their faces. “What?”

“Nothing, it just–.” Alec says.

“Reminds us our wedding, we uh, had a flower arrangement in those colors,” Magnus finishes.

“Really? That’s so cool!”

“You’re a great artist, Clary,” Alec almost whispers.

“Thank you, it really means a lot.” She isn’t lying, hearing them say that they like her painting feels more validating than any other compliment she has received.

“Anytime, biscuit,” Magnus says.

The three of them stare at the painting for a long time, not saying anything, but yet, Clary felt like she didn’t need to. She knew that Magnus and Alec felt the same.
