Oh my gosh the arm is connected to the metal arm!? XD I love that little comic. Dose Arthur know?

Avatar

It's basically Phantom Arm Syndrome, where amputees have told that they can still "feel" their missing limbs. Such as having it itch and so on.

In this case tho, Arthur is still able to feel his arm that ??? possessed. It's not linked to the metal arm, but just his brain in general, though he will go through the motions of trying to scratch it or what not...

Confrontation in the Cabin [Open RP]

The spirit cradled in Gawain’s arms started to hiss and growl at Vivi, but the ghost clamped a hand firmly around her jaws, and the spirit around his shoulders firmly shushed its sibling. Be nice! The blue girl wasn’t the one they had to watch out for!

“Vivienne, please, remember your volume…” Mystery shook out his ears, and scratched at one of them to ease the ringing. “Yes, fine, the cat’s out of the bag: This is Arthur’s brother.” The canine turned a pointed look up to Lewis. “Now, if we could all come here and talk about this calmly, please?”

Lance tightened his hug around Arthur for one moment longer before pulling back, but only to arm’s length. He looked over his nephew’s shoulder at the cabin that took up most of the clearing, wearing a thoughtful look.

“…s’it furnished in there?” Lance asked out loud as he nodded his head toward the cabin. Gawain didn’t seem to understand, at first, and stumbled over his answer.

“Um…yeah?” He shrugged as Chopper wiggled in his hands, displeased at being silenced. “Be pretty lonely if it was just an empty shell…”

“Alright then.” Lance nodded his head, and gave Arthur a small, light shove up the porch steps. “Everyone inside.” He ordered. “Now. We’re gonna sit down all professional-like and get everything straight before anyone thinks of driving anywhere else.”

Arthur winced at the term “drive” and stumbled up to the door with all the grace of a drunken llama, and then froze looking down at the knob in trepidation.

He'd been here before, and it hadn’t ended well…

He glanced back over his shoulder at Lance (Who was RIGHT behind him. Jeez!) He glanced down at Gawain’s Little Lizard Deadbeat, that was still curled around him. He gulped, hand reaching out to hover above the door handle.

Finally, sucking in a deep breath, he squeezed his eyes shut, and grabbed hold of the knob.

…Nothing happened, no shock, no orange lightning, nothing.

Slowly opening his eyes, he stared down at the door handle. Tentatively, he twisted it, and released as the door opened, swinging in on squeaky door handles.

He shot a glance back at Gawain, as he walked in, only to trip over his own two feet in the dark cabin, and stumble straight into the corner of a table.

“YOUCH!!”

Outside twin cries of concern went up from Lewis and Vivi. Lewis immediately demanding to know what happened.

Arthur hopped around a bit, then squeaked out a pitiful little, “I'm okay!” Before curling in on himself and whining.

That was just his luck. Oh that hurt.

There was a resounding BAM!! And the whole cabin shook.

Vivi's voice floated in from outside.

“Huhn, I see! It's warded from intrusion all the way around… fascinating… But Lulu baby why didn't you just use the door? It's wide open.”

There was a muffled groan and muttered curses in spanish.

Arthur looked towards the door in concern. He glanced down at the Reptile ghost who was glowing, providing a bit of light in the dim cabin, “Are there lights in here anywhere?”

Confrontation in the Cabin [Open RP]

The Reptilitone nosed Arthur’s hand when he stopped petting her spines, and made a drawn-out, almost whiny sound. She rolled over and reached for Arthur’s hand with tiny claws, hoping to coax his attention back to her.

Gawain took the silence as a bad sign, and his shoulders visibly drooped.

“I know I probably should have told you sooner….much sooner…b-but it took me so long just to get home…!” The ghost stuttered. “By the time I could get back to down, it had already been ten years, and you had your friends and Lance and mum and dad were gone and no-one would talk about why-

Arthur made a Valliant effort to push down his negative emotions.

>>Oh so you're just gonna ignore me? Okay.<< snide, sharp, painful. Arthur nearly winced.

((Too bad negative emotions made up like 99% of his being. And thus only really left when they wanted to.))

>>But don't come crying to me when this thing kills one of our friends, or Lance.<< the voice hissed angrily. Arthur swallowed at a lump in his throat.

He started to pet the lizard ghost again. Guilt and fear gnawing away at his insides.

>>cause I'll just say that I. Told. You. So.<< poison dripping from each word.

Yeah he was gonna have nightmares for this... All sorts of worst case scenarios, served up via his subconscious for daring to try, and ignore it...

He tried to focus on what Gawain was saying. Tried to make eye contact, though his fear and uncertainty were palpable at this point.

>>Cause he's lying to you.<< the voice continued sneeringly.

Arthur fought against the voice, pushing it down, and thinking about what Gawain was saying.

>>You're going to regret it.<< the voice hissed, with such malice that it made Arthur's insides shrivel.

He was trembling really badly now, anxiety once again on the rise.

He tried to keep focused on the ghost in front of him. Tried to make sense of what he was being told.

'10 years? Why so long?'

>>BECAUSE HE'S LY~ING!!<< anger, so much anger, Arthur quivered, nearly whimpered out loud.

He swallowed hard, tears welling up in his eyes despite his best efforts to not cry again.

He opened his mouth to try and ask-

And Lewis Pepper skull blazing, came bursting into the clearing.

"ZOWIE!!"Arthur yelped grabbing the Reptilitone in a tight hug.

>>At last, my hero appears~<< purred the voice with a viscous glee that made Arthur’s stomach curl.

Arthur paled, looking between Gawain and his enraged best friend.

"Oh Sh*t."

Confrontation in the Cabin [Open RP]

Gawain moved as if to catch Arthur when he suddenly sat down, but just as quickly stopped himself, and retracted his outstretched hand. His Reptilitones milled about sullenly behind him, and two of them settled on the ghost’s shoulders to comfort him. The third spirit slowly drifted down to the forest floor, and slithered towards Arthur.

She tentatively stretched out to rest her head across one of his ankles, with barely enough weight to depress the fabric. When she wasn’t immediately swatted away, Gawain took that as a cue, and slowly sank down to sit cross-legged, himself. One of the spirits on his shoulders slid down to coil in his lap, and Gawain scratched absently behind their spines.

“The first time I managed to come see you, you didn’t recognize me.” The ghost spoke up again at length. “I…was afraid you would think I was lying, if I told you the truth. So I didn’t.” Gawain fell silent for a while. “…I’m sorry.”

"...Just... Zowie! It's a lot to take in..." Arthur said finally. Reaching out to gently pet the Reptilitone by his ankle.

>>Oh we're just believing him then? Just like that? <<

Arthur sucked in a sharp breath.

'Oh not you again...'

>>Yes me~ The voice of reason! Back again for an encore profomance!<< the voice of negativity sing-songed, >>Now seriously. Are we really just going to blindly believe that this is some long lost brother, come back from the great beyond to watch over his precious baby brother?<<

Arthur stopped petting the Reptilitone, scowling softly, eyes loosing focus as he once again turned his attention completely inward.

'What reason would he have to lie?'

>>What reason would he have- Oh you are too precious! Let's see~ what reason would a spirit possibly have for lying to, and befiending a gullible, overly naive human. Possession comes to mind for one~<<

'Then why wait? It's not as if I have any real defense against such a thing. I'm a notoriously soft target.' Arthur thought, a heavy dose of guilt and self-hatred coming flooding in.

>>Hm, true... it's like we knocked out all the walls, and just added a bunch of revolving doors...<< his subconscious agreed, >>So maybe not possession. At least not of us. If it's actually a demon disguised as a human ghost, it could be using us as a feeding ground. Heavens knows we got a lot of negative emotions kicking around in here to keep a demon veerry well fed~<<

Arthur felt a chill go up through him, stomach twisting.

'A D-demon...??'

Oh, ohh, oh no...

He peeked up at Gawain.

'He doesn't seem like a demon...'

>>They never do...<< purred the voice in his head smuggly.

Confrontation in the Cabin [Open RP]

Gawain let Arthur push out of his arms, and flinched at the outburst. Even the Reptilitones drew back; they huddled behind their master’s back, and peered out over his shoulders, as if waiting anxiously for something to happen.

“….I’m your brother.” The words fell flat from his tongue, despite the decades of tension and build-up behind them. “Tom and Elaine were my mum and dad…and Lance is my uncle, too.” The ghost folded his arms over his torso in an awkward, comfort-seeking gesture, and drifted back a few steps. He didn’t want to be in arms’ reach when his brother reacted.

“I died when you were a toddler.” Gawain continued, still staring down at the forest floor. “You didn’t remember me, and-…mum and dad didn’t like to talk about me.” He shrugged. “Hurt too much, I guess, after I went missing…”

Arthur just stood there slack jawed, that had all come out so fast, honestly he hadn't been expecting such a straight answer... if any at all.

Arthur's mind kept looping back on itself continually.

He had a brother. A dead brother. A brother who had died when he was really young. The familiar feelings of comfort. A brother. Why hadn't anyone told him? Not that his parents would, they avoided unnecessary conversations after all... but uncle Lance would have known him. Why didn't he say anything??

(Though then, uncle Lance never told Arthur anything about anything. Heck, he wouldn't even admit to having worked in pro wrestling. ((Despite the fact that he literally wore a championship belt every day.))

The bike though, he'd always been super protective of it. Was it how Gawain died? Why would he keep it then?

Arthur's head spun, and he sat down hard on the ground, and just sat there still in a daze.

"...a brother huhn? That would've been nice... less lonely..."

Somebody else besides Lance who didn't resent his presence... yeah that would have been really nice...

Confrontation in the Cabin [Open RP]

Gawain’s heart creaked painfully at the sound of his brother’s cries, and he automatically started reaching out for his sibling before stopping himself. They were on shaky ground, right now. Years of lies and deceit were out in the open, and Arthur had sounded so  a n g r y  back at the garage. He couldn’t just act like they were friends anymore.

…….

But the sight of his brother in tears proved too much for Gawain, and after struggling for nearly a minute, he moved forward, and pulled Arthur into a hug. Both Reptilitones followed him, though the third, hovering at the window still, only watched.

“Nonono,” The ghost soothed, wrapping his arms around his brother. “It’s fine. It’s okay. It’s-. No-one’s mad.“ The two orange spirits tried to help by patting Arthur’s hair with their small claws, and making soft little cooing noise. “Lance will understand if we just-. If we explain. I know he will.”

It took Arthur a few minutes to calm down, but the familiar comforting presence helped-

Wait. "Familiar"...? Arthur looked up at the ghost, and really looked "at." Him for a change. Blonde hair, amber eyes, sideburns, stupid antennae like black bangs...

Arthur pulled free and just stared at what could have been his twin brother.

How had he not noticed the fact that they looked so much alike?

What even was this? Was the ghost trying to mimic his looks? Could ghosts do that?

What was with the stronge familial features? Was, was Gwain like a dead uncle or cousin no one had ever told him about!?

His mouth opened and closed several times as he tried to wrap his head around it.

Finally the words came bursting out.

"Seriously, just who the heck are you!!??"

Confrontation in the Cabin [Open RP]

The Reptilitones all froze as an eerie silence fell over the cabin, and Gawain slowly raised his head. Old bike…? A cold pit of fear began to manifest in his hollow chest. No…no, that couldn’t mean-

…….

Lance had kept the old thing, but surely Arthur wouldn’t have tried to start it up?

Gawain stood up so fast, he dumped the poor Reptilitone in his lap to the floor. In a flash, the ghost was at the window - one hand wiping away the conjured dust to reveal a painfully familiar red Honda, circa 1975, parked along the side of the isolated road visible through the trees. That cold pit yawned into a chasm, and a stiff breeze began to rattle and sway the forest canopy above.

“Why did you take that?” The ghost asked, his voice only slightly muffled by the glass. “Why did you-? It’s not safe!”

"Whoa!" Arthur cried sitting up, and curling in on himself at the sudden change in atmosphere.

"Eheheh, w-well you see; I, ah, I've been trying to fix the old girl up ever since I first found it. (Y-you know when uncle Lance wasn't around.) and. Um." Arthur laughed nervously, gulping, "L-Lewis and Vivi had the van today, and I've really b-been wanting to give it a test drive so..."

He glanced over at the cabin nervously. Hugging himself tightly, suddenly wondering if chasing a ghost who he hardly knew out to the middle of nowhere, all by himself had really been such a good idea after all.

The answer was probably NO.

Arcane Solutions [Open RP]

“MYSTERY.” Vivi hollered through the mansion at the top of her lungs. “Where’s the spellbook we collected from that stupid Tantra cult? I need to find something to get rid of this Anon magic!”

Avatar

“I gave it to Arthur!” He called hurrying after her.

“Or ya know, we could just LEAVE NOW!!” Arthur hollared back at the two behind him. He slowed down, ruffling through the messanger bag on his hip until he found the aforementioned spell book.

“Can’t we please just get back to the van??” He whined, holding it out to Vivi.

“No!” Vivi snatched up the book and frantically began flipping pages. “We promised the client we’d deal with this tonight, and I’m not gonna let this half-rate spook scare us off!” She frowned as she kept flipping. “Now where is that spell…?”

“Um…Vivi?” Lewis jogged to a quick stop beside them both, and looked back nervously over his shoulder. “Can you read faster? It’s not that far behind…!”

Arthur meeped at Lewis's sudden appearance, then whimpered as what his friend had just said sunk in. Arthur gulped and looked over passed the taller man to see an ominous glow start to spread across the end of the hall.

He sent a look to Vivi, who was still flipping through the book, then looked back at the rapidly increasimg light, and did some quick math in his head. At the speed it was coming, even if Vivi found the spell in the next minute, she'd still need to actually say whatever Incantation it was. There just wouldn't be time.

Arthur's heart sunk, which meant that they needed to slow the ghost down.

Which meant they needed a distraction... and guess who was always the bait.

Heaving a defeated sigh, he turned back to Lewis.

"Hey big guy, looks like we're going to have to run interference. Any ideas?"
