Light as a feather, lifting up, together. But a heavy ache and focus blames circles in our heads. Eyes meet, though we didn't see what we would be. Falling, falling without knowing.

Sheriff Stilinski was responding to a run-of-the-mill noise complaint. Or so he thought.

When the sheriff arrived at the scene, he was met with a horrifying display. A boy about his son's age knelt beside a middle-aged woman who appeared to be his mother.

His own son, not surprisingly, was also there. To the sheriff's dismay, however, Stiles was fighting a rather ominous-looking man with red eyes.

Sheriff Stilinski's eyes were torn away from his son when he heard a cry of "Help!" come from the strange boy. The sheriff wanted to help the boy's mother, but he couldn't leave his son defenseless against his attacker. He made his way towards Stiles but was stopped.

"Dad, no!" Stiles dodged a swipe from the red-eyed man. "Go help Kevin!"

The sheriff watched momentarily as Stiles returned to the fight and even managed to hold his own. He then looked over at Kevin, whose eyes met his.

"Please, Sheriff Stilinski," begged this boy who he had never met. This boy who his son apparently knew and trusted. This boy who was also mixed up in this suspicious activity. "Help my mother."

And he did just that.

Kevin and Stiles are hard at work trying to decipher the Demon tablet. Kevin is busy translating, while Stiles is looking up everything he can find about the Gates of Hell in his ever-growing collection of ancient texts. Every so often their eyes will meet from across the dusty table. Stiles might nudge Kevin's sneakers with his own.

This is how they pass the time in their heavily-warded boat.

One day, Sam and Dean decide to drop in for a visit. When they arrive Sam starts to put away the groceries he picked up, while Dean heads over to talk to the boys.

"So," Dean starts. "What have you two crazy kids been up to since the last time we came by? It looks like you haven't moved at all..." He sniffs the air around Kevin. "It smells like it, too."

Kevin and Stiles answer at the same time.

"Research," says Stiles, not looking up from his book.

"Translating," says Kevin, not bothering to remove his headphones.

Dean shakes his head at them and mutters just loud enough for them to hear, "What a couple of nerds..." He turns around and heads for the boat's small kitchen.

Kevin and Stiles look up at each other and share a small smile before going back to work.

As Stiles closes his front door, he hears a shuffling noise upstairs. Fearing it may be one of the Alphas, he silently (or as silently as possible, considering this is Stiles) pulls a plastic baggie full of wolfsbane out of his backpack.

Stiles creeps up the stairs, but when he gets there, it's not an Alpha he finds. It's Kevin. Kevin Tran was sitting in his room, cello in hand.

"Kevin, what are you -"

But before Stiles get out the rest of his question, Kevin began to play. It was a haunting melody that seemed to reverberate throughout the entire house.

Stiles had known Kevin for years. The two were in the same classes and they had prepared for the SATs together. All the while, they had worked together to learn about the supernatural and to fend off demons and alpha werewolves. They were friends and partners in crime.

But then Stiles heard Kevin play the cello.

He heard the prophet play, and suddenly everything changed.

Stiles realized that Kevin was more than his supernatural, crime-fighting buddy. He was his everything.

Stiles runs into the warehouse where he finds Kevin bloody and beaten after his latest encounter with Crowley. Kevin's breathing is shallow and he clutches on to his hand which is bleeding profusely from the place where his finger once was.

"Kevin!" Stiles yells as he runs to his side. "Are you alright?"

Kevin can barely manage to lift his head up enough to meet Stiles' gaze. Stiles tries to get the prophet on his feet, but Kevin wouldn't budge.

"Siles..." Kevin murmurs. "I'm so tired. I'm so tired, Stiles. And it hurts. It hurts all over."

Stiles cradles Kevin in his arms and brushes his hair off of his face. "I know, dude, I know. You just need to hold on a little while longer until Cas or Derek gets here and we can get you some help."

"No," Kevin manages to get out. "No Cas. No Derek. Just let me die already... So tired..."

Stiles gives Kevin a stern look. He takes Kevin's face in his hands and tells him, "You are not allowed to die. Do you hear me? Help is on the way and you are not going to die on me."

Kevin closes his eyes and shakes his head. Stiles continues, "Death doesn't happen to you, Kevin. It happens to everyone around you. That includes me and I... I don't want to live without you, man." Stiles presses a quick, but firm kiss to Kevin's forehead before praying to Cas as loud as he can.

Stiles walks backwards through the pews of the church. He tries to remain vigilant, but despite all of this he backs up into another person.

"Ahhh!" Stiles shrieks as he jumps in the air. He turns around only to see another boy about his age pointing a gun at him.

"What are you?" the other boy asks.

"What am I? What are you?" Stiles asks in an equally accusatory tone.

Before anything more could be said they hear a loud growling noise followed by a series of slow, heavy footsteps. They turn around to see the source of the noise and wordlessly agree to team up... Even if just until they've gotten out of this mess.

Stiles crouches down in front of the boy with the golden eyes and asks, "What are you?"

Something in him tells Kevin that he could trust Stiles, so he replies, "I'm a prophet of the Lord."
