The Best Is Yet to Be

Being in the Seventh Decade of Life does not mean a Person is Old - as long as your Heart and Mind are Open. Imagination and Humor never age. Youth is Not wasted on the Young - it is a State of Mind that should be nurtured within us forever.

Cleopatra (real name Orangey) was one of the many dozens of “Rhubarb” cats trained by Frank Inn. Sometimes up to 30 different cats were used to get the right shots for each film.

In “The Comedy of Terrors”, Cleopatra is a very curious cat and provides a lot of humourous moments in what would otherwise be little more than a spoof of “Tales of Terror" (1962).

Artist Guy Carrell (Ray Milland) has his anxiety about premature burial increased when another Poe element is introduced into the story in the form of a small but very noisy cat trapped behind the wooden panelling of his drawing room. You can be sure that Roger Corman intended the pun about catalepsy.

Emily Gault (Hazel Court) gives the “poor wee thing” a cuddle to make up for her ordeal.

Verden Fell (Vincent Price) may have buried his beloved wife Ligea (Elizabeth Shepherd) but what seems to be her pet cat is still hanging around.

The cat seems very possessive over Verden’s belongings even though he’s already thrown a cabbage at her.

After getting attacked by the cat several times, the lovely Lady Rowena (also played by Elizabeth Shepherd) is still silly enough to follow her up the stairs of the bell tower. It’s pretty obvious even without the final revealing scene that this female black cat is possessed by the spirit of Ligeia. Of course, after quite a fight with Verden Fell, this movie doesn’t end at all well for anybody.
