You know what I’m finding hard? Going from writing Samifer to Sabriel. Lucifer to Gabriel…. How do I get the tone changes right?

It depends on if you’re writing s5 Lucifer or later season’s Lucifer, too.

s5 Lucifer is angry about what happened to him, but stays calm and patient and channels his anger very carefully at the people who he thinks deserve it. (The only slip-up being beating the shit out of Dean in Swan Song.) He’s actually not joking that much, but has a kinda dark humor occasionally. Also, he’s very much convinced that he’s in the right.

Later season’s Lucifer doesn’t give a shit about anything anymore and covers how deeply he’s hurt with tons of sarcasm.

Gabriel covers his hurt with actual jokes, pranks and lots of laughter. He acts like he doesn’t give a shit, but he does so very much.

Any advice on how to write fight scenes in fan fiction?

Concentrate on what your POV character can see and feel, don’t write a blow to blow description of everything that’s happening around them. Fights are messy and confusing. Sometimes your character will be hit by something and not know right away what hit them. Sometimes things happen too fast to actually process them, and adrenalin makes perception narrow down on only the most essential things. Try to capture that.

Here’s a secret: As long as you make it through school somehow your grades don’t matter that much. Pretty soon in your adult life you’ll reach a point, where no one will ask about them any more. They don’t define you, and they barely say anything about your real skills. The only really important thing about school is that you finish it. Get that piece of paper that says you managed to muddle through and you didn’t give up. Everything else will work itself out.
