“The proposal reverses the familiar relationship between the front of the building and its reflection in the canal. In this case, the facade becomes the canal and the canal becomes the facade. This inversion is achieved by extending the front promenade as a horizontal replica of the actual facade then installing a vertical glass wall. A hydraulic sprinkler system, suspended on a steel space frame, allows a continuous cascade of water to flow over the glass. The shimmering, transparent water wall stands out in marked contrast to the monumentality and ornate decoration of traditional facades of Venice.“
