I saw the new leaks of the httyd live action and immediately thought about checking on my people

How are we doing

I dont think it looks bad, but I'm also waiting for an actual trailer before making up my mind

I don't think it looks bad either but I already have a bad feeling since it's a live action

I still don't see another point of doing it other than degrading animation

But let's wait I suppose

I'm partially in the "wait-and-see camp" (because I really do want it to be good), but still very much in the "whyyyy" camp. There are so many other stories to adapt (still waiting to here more about the Wizards of Once adaptation) and so many original stories to tell. Doing a remake of an adaptation only 15 years later just seems like overkill.

I think DreamWorks' best work is in historical fiction, folklore, and fantasy (Like Prince of Egypt, Shrek and HTTYD are hands down their best stuff IMO). They could make some amazing stuff if they tried new narratives in those genres instead of desperately rehashing and sequel-ing every single successful franchise they've done in the past.

I know right, that's what I'm thinking :( like what's even the point than to make money out of the people's nostalgia. I get that the httyd was incredible movies for the audience but it's time to move on, there are so many ANIMATED movies that could be made with that budget come on

If both chris sanders and Dean deblois were directing it together, then maybe my hopes would be higher, BUT after the hidden world I don't trust Deblois to write anything good
