Look at this, though. Everyone’s going nuts over the scarred faces, but those are only TWO faces. Two. What about the rest of the faces? What kind of variety is there? Can you tell?
I made a gif to make it easier.
Eye color, occasionally there are freckles. Tiny scar. There is so little variety on display. Nothing has changed.
Look, I’m really happy with the concept of allied races--and I really do think they’re a great addition to WoW--but they just don’t have the variety in customization that they need in order to shine. Nightborne dudes all have the same pissy old man look with a receding hairline (with two anime hair styles), Void Elves are either hentai anime superstars or alternative punk indie musicians, Highmountain Tauren are just more Tauren, Lightforged Draenei are just more Draenei (with one singular beard and one color option), and from the looks of things, I’m not too hopeful about the options for Dark Iron Dwarves and Zandalari Trolls. Sameface syndrome is pretty rampant from what I’ve been seeing.
When do we get actual options? It’s honestly crazy that this is one of the few successful pay-to-play MMORPGs but has so little customization for your character. If they would even just add more options to choose from, that would at least be something. I’m not expecting a full on Black Desert Online customization screen...
(every single one of those white patches--and that green patch--is a customizable bit of the face you can pull and push to your satisfaction)
...but jesus, some races have as many as 15 facial options with barely any real differences between them. And there’s only so much you can blame on the model. The model does not define the texture, damnit, so give us more options.
