-cenic: a suffix to denote that something is central to, at the heart of, or otherwise part of a gender
-coric was coined to denote that a gender is related to a -core aesthetic - for example, kidcoric is related to the aesthetic kidcore. the original coiner has expressed displeasure at people using -coric to simply denote that a gender is related to something, as that is not the intended definition and use of the suffix.
i previously coined -aesic to be an alternative to -coric for aesthetigenders that don’t fit the -coric definition. you can check out that post for more info on what -core aesthetics are and situations in which -coric is not appropriate, but -aesic is. however, -aesic is not the only solution needed to prevent the misuse of -coric, as it’s only a suffix for aesthetigenders. people still coin genders using the -coric suffix that are not related to aesthetic experiences at all.
thus, i’m proposing -cenic, which is a suffix that one can use to denote that something is central to, at the heart of, or otherwise part of a gender. basically, this suffix can be used for whatever you want! i wanted this suffix to be/do a few things: short and sweet, like -coric; easy to pronounce, like -coric; and evoke similar imagery to -coric. -cenic is the same number of letters and syllables, is pronounced as ‘sen-ick’, and is derived from the word ‘center’, since the core of something is its center!
i’ll give an example of three different gender experiences - one which -coric can be used for, one which -aesic can be used for, and one which -cenic can be used for:
- your gender is related to dollcore. this can be called dollcoric!
- your gender is aesthetically related to dolls in some way, but not the dollcore aesthetic specifically. this can be called dollaesic!
- your gender is related to dolls in literally any other way. this can be called dollcenic!
basically, use this suffix for literally anything you want. just please stop misusing -coric!
