71. “You are the single best thing that has ever happened to me.”
“I don’t deserve you.”
It’s a soft, deliberate murmur as Voldemort’s lips press against Quirrell’s skin. It’s late at night and they’re sprawled on the couch, having just finished a movie marathon of all the films they’d sworn to watch together some day. It had been rather extensive list of chick flicks.
“Hm?” Quirrell hums sleepily, yawning a little. “What’re you talking about?”
“I was a monster. I was a…I know I can’t undo everything I did to all those people, or what I did to you, and it’d be insulting to even try,” Voldemort says. His voice is husky with pain. “But I’m so…I’m so happy you wanted to stay with me, after everything. I don’t deserve that.”
“Yes, you do,” Quirrell insists. He sits up properly, cupping Voldemort’s face so that they’re looking at each other. “Voldemort, you came back for me. You look after me, you love me. You are the single best thing that has ever happened to me.”
Quirrell swears that Voldemort’s pale cheeks are flushing. “Seriously?” he manages. “Because I feel the same about you. You’re the best possible thing. Ever.”
Quirrell grins, pressing his lips to Voldemort’s chastely. “Then I’d say we’re a pretty good match, wouldn’t you?”
