Finished! This is a macro of a jaguar cub's eye, hand embroidered with single strand DMC floss, finished in a 4inch hoop. This was meant to be a palate cleanser after my last jaguar piece but alas I put my normal amount of effort into this...
I already have two pieces lined up after this that I basically want to start immediately.

He's done! Dumai, the sumatran tiger, in all his glory. This is fully hand embroidered, single strand DMC floss, in a 6 inch hoop.
Finally found some motivation for this. For some reason this one is so much more intimidating, maybe because I'm scared lightning won't strike twice so to say. Anyway this is a sumatran that lives at San Diego Zoo that I've been obsessed with because he's GORGEOUS. His name is Dumas and I'm hoping I can do him justice.
Say hello to my absolute favorite piece I've made this far. This is Diane, a sumatran tiger from the San Diego zoo. I adored everything about this piece, and it was remarkably hard to let this one go. This was anywhere from 50-60 hours? Probably? Fully hand embroidered with single strand thread. I'll post a short TikTok I made of the process of this next.

This cheetah and her sister were apparently on display for the first time when we went that day after arriving from North Florida, and it seemed like they had really settled in nicely. :]
This is the tiger I was telling you about. Can’t post anything about her, but this was the best shot I got of those TERRIBLY crossed eyes(She was very interested in our group and I was shooting through a safety fence as well as her enclosure’s wall). One of the worst I’ve seen and yet another testament to the horrific inbreeding.

Looking as regal as ever, though she was really showing off her hair lip(of course a result of the inbreeding) in most of her pictures, these were the only two that she wasn’t making a face in and showing off her teeth unintentionally.

This is Suka, the Sumatran tiger cub that is being hand raised at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Mom wasn’t giving him the nutrition he needed and he wasn’t putting on weight, so the keepers pulled him from mom after a few days and have been hand rearing him. He has ALL energy now and is a healthy weight(about 25lbs last I heard), and is the first cub to be hand reared at the park since 1984. Suka is a critical part of the dwindling Sumatran tiger population, of which less than 350 exist in the wild.
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to watch this guy grow into a magnificent, ruffed adult, and I’m sure he will look just as handsome as his father!
