tips for studying while sick? anyone?

Avatar
nenelonomh

i'm sick at the moment, and honestly the best thing you can do is to slow down. focus on getting enough sleep and making sure you're getting the right nutrients and looking after yourself. maybe take a break from some extracurriculars/school to recover, but make sure to spend your time productively! it's not beneficial to stay home when sick if you're going to doom scroll all day.

personally, i'm unable to stop going to school unless i'm close to deaths door (the workload would smash me when i returned after getting better) but i try to cut down my extra curricular activities.

if you can, try to help yourself in romanticized ways as to bring up your mood. don't romanticize being sick but definitely make yourself a warm cup of tea or some soup and lounge in bed with a good book and some fluffy socks (the ultimate get-better combination!).

study august twenty-first: finished physics notes & did a full content review △ began this saturday's edition of the elonomh times △ spanish verb conjugation study (the conditional tense) △ mathematics study △ finished business pitch powerpoint △ worked on my set planning sheet (university & course list)

i attended training this morning - lower body. friday morning i'm going to do upper body. today was a massive day. sometimes i feel overwhelmed by the amount of things i try to fit in my life - i must remember to rest. i also must remember that this is what i signed up for - my life is my choice.

a note to myself to limit caffine, especially in the afternoon. yes it gives me energy, but bouncing off the walls instead of going to bed is not an ideal situation.

time management

time management is all about planning and controlling how you spend your time to be more efficient and productive. some key strategies to help you manage your time better include:

・prioritize tasks: identify what's most important and tackle those tasks first. you can use methods like the eisenhower matrix to categorize tasks by urgency and importance.

・set goals: having clear, achievable goals can help you stay focused and motivatedbreak down larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks.

・create a schedule: plan your day or week in advance. allocate specific time blocks for different activities and stick to your schedule as much as possible.

・avoid multitasking: focus on one task at a time. multitasking can reduce your efficiency and increase the chances of making mistakes.

take breaks: regular breaks can help you stay fresh and maintain high levels of productivity. techniques like the pomodoro technique, which involves working for 25 minutes and then taking a 5-minute break, can be very effective.

eliminate distractions: identify what distracts you and find ways to minimize these interruptions. this could mean turning off notifications, setting boundaries with others, or creating a dedicated workspace

for example, sometimes i get so caught up with talking to my friends online that i forget to start my homework when i get home. an easy solution is to simply move my phone out of the room.

・review and adjust: regularly review your progress and adjust your plans as needed. this helps you stay on track and make improvements over time.

do you have any specific areas where you struggle with time management?

there are several great time management apps that can help you stay organized and productive. here are a few popular ones:

  1. todoist: a comprehensive app for managing tasks and projects. it’s available on multiple platforms and integrates well with other tools like gmail and slack.
  2. toggl track: ideal for tracking work hours and managing schedules. it’s great for freelancers and small businesses.
  3. forest: a unique app that uses a gamified approach to help you stay focused. you grow a virtual tree by staying on task, and if you get distracted, the tree dies.
  4. notion: an all-in-one workspace that combines notes, tasks, and project management. it’s highly customizable and great for both personal and team use.
  5. clockify: a free time tracking app that helps you track work hours across projects. it's useful for individuals and groups.
  6. trello: a visual tool for organising tasks and projects using boards, lists, and cards. it’s great for collaboration and keeping track of multiple projects.

thanks for reading! remember, mastering time management is a journey, not a destination. stay focused, stay organized, and make every moment count.

feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need more tips!

study august twentieth: ◻ spanish verb conjugations - hablar ◻ finished business management script for my pitch ◻ worked on business management revision paper ◻ sehs revision (creating flashcards)

today was so busy! i'm so grateful for my ability to readjust and be flexible when things don't go to plan.

i went to school, and then to training afterwards. we did a circuit hiit session - i ended up vomiting due to the difficulty. i survived though! and i have more training tomorrow.

when i left training, it began to pour down with rain. i ended up wet and cold, but i still had to ride the train home. i only got home around five pm, so i was unable to collect my on-hold books from the library. i was still able to buy birthday gifts for my friends lana, ryan (both of them have their birthday tomorrow), and myke (hers is on the twenty-fifth).

tomorrow i will go to a morning training session and have a study date with some of my other friends in the afternoon.

seeking support when needed and the benefit of tutoring

personalized learning is an educational approach that tailors instruction to meet each student's unique needs, strengths, and interests. it works positively to reinforce learning and create a more engaging and effective educational experience.

unfortunately, the education system often ignores such efforts. so, you must put in the work yourself.

seeking support is a proactive and beneficial approach to learning. tutoring, in particular, offers several advantages.

personalized attention. tutors can tailor their teaching methods to suit your learning style and pace, providing individualized support that might not be possible in a classroom setting.

improved academic performance. regular tutoring can help identify and address gaps in your knowledge, leading to better grades and test scores.

stress relief. tutoring provides a supportive environment where students can ask questions and get help without the classroom pressure, reducing stress and anxiety.

personally, i attend tutoring every week held by my mathematics/physics teacher. these sessions, held before the first period, are opportunities for me (or any one of my peers) to gain additional help.

many tutoring opportunities may be offered by your classmates or upperclassmen.

alternatively, you can implement personalized learning into your study routine - to support educational growth. here are some steps to get started:

understand learning styles. identify whether you are a visual, auditory, reading/writing, or kinesthetic learner. this will help tailor the learning activities to your preferred style.

use diverse resources. incorporate a variety of materials such as books, videos, online courses, and hands-on activities. this keeps learning engaging and caters to different learning preferences.

incorporate technology. utilize educational apps and platforms that offer adaptive learning experiences. these tools can provide personalized feedback and adjust to your progress.

some of my favourite online study tools include microsoft solve when i need help understanding mathematics or physics situations. additionally, chatgpt is great at explaining word problems.

platforms like coursera, udemy, and khan academy offer a wide range of courses on various subjects, allowing you to learn at your own pace. many youtube videos are available to assist.

send any post requests to my ask box!

regular review

every 'a' level student i know regularly reviews their study materials. it's so beneficial for so many reasons!

improves retention. reviewing material regularly helps transfer information from short-term to long-term memory. this makes it easier to recall information when you need it.

identifies gaps. regular review allows you to identify areas where you might be struggling. this gives you the opportunity to address these gaps before they become bigger issues.

builds confidence. as you review and reinforce your knowledge, you become more confident in your understanding of the material. this can reduce anxiety, especially before exams.

enhances understanding. revisiting topics can deepen your understanding. sometimes, concepts that seemed difficult initially become clearer upon review

promotes active learning. regular review encourages active engagement with the material, which is more effective than passive reading or cramming.

supports goal achievement. regularly reviewing your progress helps you stay on track with your study goals and adjust your strategies as needed.

do you have a specific subject or area you’re focusing on right now? maybe I can help with some tips or resources!

i hope you enjoyed today's post! ❤️ nene
