kenshiro + goku + no morals = noel noa
i just want to see kiyora do stuff and i can dress that desire up however i want, like with a "given kiyora's choice of kaiser over isagi, if his choice doesn't have consequences down the line it'll be kind of a waste" or maybe "as a blade kiyora is best suited to represent basmün" or even "since his character is rooted in the borderline between life and death, kiyora naturally represents the 'survival' aspect of blue lock that has disappeared from isagi's story" or like a "kiyora-kunigami link REAL" (for old times' sake) but most of all the reason i want to see kiyora do stuff is because if he doesn't i might cry. i just want to see him do stuff man that's all i'm asking for
if kiyora doesn't get to do anything else i might cry
the characters i actually most want to see Do Things are 1.kiyora and 2.gessner. even though the second one is a long shot
i'm the type of annoying fan who will interpret noa-kaiser in the most positive light no matter what information about them gets released, but for that part of me to be fully activated, more info about them... needs to get released...
kaiser is a wonderful character for many reasons but one of them is that he was made to overcome pain, which means he was made to be put in pain. like the premise of him is that he "surpasses" to achieve the impossible but for that purpose he needs to be hit with insurmountable impossibility, he was tailor-made to be placed into Situations (read: fed to the meat grinder) so as a character he's naturally suited to being put in pain.
i'm thinking of how kaiser could reunite with his father and the two main ways are like
- his father died offscreen and was interred and after his return to germany kaiser visits his grave to spit on it and walk away (like dio at the start of jjba 1)
- his father swings by basmün late at night to catch kaiser leaving the grounds after practice and he's here in his best clothes and wearing a fake smile, to ask his son for money
i like option 1 fine but i support option 2 because it's more fanfic-y and puts kaiser in pain. (i tend to think ray dark or whoever must have paid off kaiser's father, or at least an encounter happened after kaiser was plucked out of jail because he has his Ball retrieved. but in my fantasy kaiser's father also gets paid regularly to stay quiet about kaiser's past because the thought of that father continuing to profit off of his son is enjoyably sickening.) i imagine that kaiser would refrain from throwing hands because he's mindful of causing a commotion and drawing media coverage but he still struggles to keep cool when his father's fake gentleness melts and he reverts to his old habits, but while kaiser won't let himself be hurt again he can't let himself fight, and maybe he's also working through a panic attack while he tries to figure out what to do?
i think it's most fitting for kaiser's story that no one comes to save him so he resolves it himself (and later informs the Appropriate Channels about it so it doesn't happen again), but afterwards his father falls off some stairs while drunk somewhere and dies but kaiser never learns that so he stays quietly terrified of his father coming around for money again. i don't know, i just enjoy this scenario of kaiser analyzing his fear, telling himself that he's protected by basmün and too valuable to be hurt and etc. but failing to completely suppress his instinctive terror and maybe resigning himself to living with it and it stays with him until he learns about the death, then he realizes he'll never get closure and even though his father is gone he's still left with his memory. then option 1 happens and i get to have it both ways... i'm grateful to kaiser for voluntarily suffering to make me a winner (note: i put him through this)
but also because i'm me, i want to see noa put himself between kaiser and his father and pressure him into backing down, not because noa cares about kaiser's wellbeing, not because noa feels protectiveness over kaiser but simply to secure his own future glory. like he maybe says "i don't care who you are, but stay away from the person who will become my enemy" and cows the father into running away, and kaiser knows that noa didn't do it for him (that noa would only do what benefits noa) and because of that kaiser can find the heart to accept and even be grateful for it (noa-kaiser propaganda # 109 i think noa's selfish gift to kaiser is true and sincere and kaiser learns gratitude from that). like i know noa-kaiser was proven real but i want... more...
(also the reason kaiser's father dies here is because i enjoy the image of kaiser being terrified of a threat that no longer exists anywhere. i really like that part of ch.262 where he realizes he's afraid, and since he was so removed from what originally threatened him he may have thought, "now i'll never feel fear again" but that's not how it works, and he's forced to live with how he'll never truly be free for the rest of his life… i want to see him deal with that)
kaiser is an angel and a dragon (don't forget)
all that aside the crucial bit is that ness is a 魔術師 magician. he's not, and has never been explicitly called a 魔法使い magic-user, despite how his backstory chapters are titled 魔法使いと青薔薇 "magic-user and blue rose" ness has never once been called a 魔法使い magic-user, ness is and has always been a 魔術師 magician
like the idea here is that the only kaiser ness loves and is capable of loving is the kaiser ness creates, and it's pretty cool how in this shonen manga there's a relationship where growth that is clearly positive for one major character is also clearly making another (major?) character miserable. not to say that being with kaiser was the best thing for ness either but ness is one of kaiser's most important relationships and he's also someone who would most want to deny kaiser's positive growth, who would find it in his interest to deny it because kaiser as a person isn't what ness actually cares about. i'm not blaming him for that either it just is what it is, and i can't help but be reminded of "this person's dream became mine" like even here ness projects his own dream onto kaiser and just, has kaiser carry it (like hiori does with isagi?), it's not actually kaiser's dream that ness cares about because ness never understood kaiser, because in this manga nobody can understand anyone else and nobody can go beyond the limits of their own perspective and that's just how people are.
this all comes from the ness backstory chapters being titled 魔法使いと青薔薇 "magic-user and blue rose", which sounds like it could be referring to ness and kaiser until you realize that ness has never once been called a 魔法使い so it can't be him. ness is only ever a 魔術師 magician (this distinction is really important)
at the time this led me down a path of "kaiser is a secret potential magic-user 魔法使い while ness is a magician 魔術師" and if i'm honest i still believe in this, partly because this makes it so that kaiser hijacks ness' backstory completely and blue lock is exactly the type of awful miserable bad taste manga to add small "jokes" like this and laugh to itself while most readers don’t notice
ness is so weird in this context like he can grow "natural" roses but as a magician he’s not an inborn magic-user he's instead a 魔術師 a studied magician. he really straddles the line here
by the way kaiser who wants to grow his artificial rose (be the creator of his own ideal) and ness who grew natural roses for kaiser is still so Uwahh like you see why they got divorced right
kaiser's chain of glass (that protects his rose), noa's throne of glass, if glass is what connects these characters to 'number 1'— hiori breaks glass for isagi, hiori wants to give birth to isagi the number 1 striker. fundamentally hiori's presence is both what leads isagi to the top, and what destroys isagi chances of actually becoming number 1
no i just really like that kaiser's chain of ego is made of glass and so is noa's throne of number 1
