This whole house. The kitchen they cooked in, the bedrooms they made love in, the garden they cultivated together. He needed out, but the bikes outside they rode together. The dogs they raised together. He needed to go, but even his old flat was full of memories working together, loving together.
He couldn’t. He just couldn’t.
He fisted the letter that broke his heart in one hand and pressed the other to his eyes, fighting back the urge to sob. “No… Please… You gave me everything,” he whispered the empty, dead stillness of the empty house. “I love you.”
