When the class pet died Danny felt sad, the little mouse lasted for years and the cause of death had been old age but it was obvious that he would be missed by many.
He was surprised when he found the ghost mouse while he was exploring the Realms. He asked Clockwork about it, and the ghost explained that many pets stayed behind, worried for those who taked care of them. When Danny took a closer look he noticed that the islands were full of dogs, cats and other animals. (Was that an elephant??). As their new King, he wanted to help them.
Because of that, he came up with an idea, with the help of Sam and Tucker he opened a coffee shop called "Bittersweet endings", it had a calm and friendly atmosphere, it was a place where people could meet their deceased pets and say goodbye to them. This was a way to help both the ghost animals to go to the afterlife and to alleviate the worries of the owners.
It wasn't long before his little coffee shop became popular. And human ghosts asked if they could do the same as the animals and say goodbye to their loved ones.
Danny allowed it, but warned that it could only happen if their loved ones visited the place. And he also put out a notice on the door that if human customers visited frequently they would be temporarily kicked out for their own mental health, it's not good to cling to the past.
While going through some posts, Dick noticed the ad for the coffee shop, and although he considered it a bit absurd (Bittersweet endings? Say goodbye? It sounded like a cult, but the reviews were good), he decided to give it a try. Even if it was fake he could pretend to talk to his parents, the anniversary of their death was coming up after all.
When he arrived at Amity Park, Dick noticed the people leaving the place sadly and hesitantly entered. A little elephant was lying next to a table (and although it was a really small version of an elephant, the bat wondered how much the owners of the place had invested in the enclosure) and his parents greeted him from that table with a smile.
It wasn't long before Dick began recommending the place to his acquaintances.
