University of Sheffield confirms archaeology department closure
The university says it has seen a "significant decline" in applications to study archaeology.

This is extremely disappointing and upsetting news. I chose Sheffield for my Master’s degree because it was one of the best archaeology departments in the UK. The decision to close it unceremoniously is nothing short of devastating.

Food desert, anyone? I think I remember the news reporting that Attawapiskat is only accessible by ground via ice road. Which was not usable last winter because it was so warm, and hasn’t really hardened up enough yet this winter. so this stuff is probably being flown in or something.

(Maybe snowmobiles can do it, too, but I don’t know how much a snowmobile can really carry as I am a bad Canadian and have never ridden one ever.)
