Okay, I was just going to reblog this without commentary, but I can't keep this to myself. I'm a PhD student in environmental science and this is my fucking highway.

The first published study about climate change (that I am aware of-- feel free to point out if there's an older one) is an 1896 paper by Svante Arrhenius. He pointed out the link between the greenhouse effect and changes in atmospheric CO2.

Plate tectonics, which the geoscience community now recognizes as near indisputable, was a fringe theory until about the 1960s.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has asked President Joe Biden to issue a Presidential Disaster Declaration for areas of the Lone Star State impacted by recent severe weather and flooding.

Texas has been rocked by inclement weather over the past few weeks, including thunderstorms that have triggered flooding and tornadoes.

That time a little piss baby worked with his gang of thugs to destroy an entire state's infrastructure, never stopped threatening to secede, and had to beg the federal government to clean up the mess he made. Abbot and the entire Texas Republican delegation are just trash. For over 30 years, they've been in charge, able to do literally anything they want, and they want voters to believe that the catastrophe that is Texas in 2024 is somehow not their fault or responsibility. Good luck, Texas. I hope y'all can overcome the MAGA Occupation.

Republicans want to raise the age of voting to 21 because 18-21yos voted in droves in the Midterms. This is the same Republican Party that believes that an 18yo is mature enough to purchase an AR15 and a 10yo is old enough to be a mom.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on Thursday rebuked House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan for his decision to investigate the Georgia election interference probe that led to the indictment of former President Donald Trump and 18 other defendants.

In a letter, Willis, a Democrat, accused Jordan, R-Ohio, of overstepping his congressional authority with his recent requests for information pertaining to her investigation.

Willis, who was responding to a letter Jordan sent in late August, said there is "no justification in the Constitution for Congress to interfere with a state criminal matter."

Trump was charged in Fulton County last month with felony racketeering and numerous conspiracy charges in the 41-count indictment, which named a total of 19 defendants. Jordan announced that he was launching a congressional probe into Willis' investigation shortly before Trump surrendered to the jail in Fulton County.

"The obvious purpose" of Jordan's requests, Willis said, "is to obstruct a Georgia criminal proceeding and to advance outrageous partisan misrepresentations." She said that his public statements and recent letter "make clear that you lack any legitimate legislative purpose for that inquiry."

The best part of that letter was when she told him he needed to be educated about RICO (the racketeering statute she's charging rump and company under)--she recommended a good book and pointed out he could acquire it for a reasonable price CONSIDERING HE IS NOT A LAWYER.

AMAZING news: the Reproductive Freedom Act in Ohio has now officially been CERTIFIED to be on the ballot in this November's election. It gathered 495,938 signatures from 55 counties across Ohio. Republicans messed around & women & young people will make them find out.

Okay, but Ohioans need to get the fuck to the polls for our special election on August 8th!!! The Republican fucks are trying to change our simple majority necessary for amendments to 60%. The Columbus Dispatch says "Issue 1 is one of the most significant questions Ohio voters will be asked in generations," and that's no exaggeration. Get out there, and vote no. Early voting and absentee ballot requests are still going on, if you are registered to vote!

We gotta vote no on issue 1 in Ohio on August 8th, 2023.

Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose admitted last month “[Issue 1] is 100% about keeping a radical, pro-abortion amendment out of our constitution.”

Magistrate Judge Moxila Upadhyaya, during trump’s arraignment hearing today, said - "Your most important condition of release is that you not commit a state, federal or local offense. If so, your release may be revoked. You may also face a longer sentence for having committed a crime while on release.”

She told Trump that “it is a crime to influence a juror or try to threaten or bribe a witness or retaliate against anyone connected to the case.”

CNN’s Randi Kaye interviewed several Trump fans outside his Doral resort hours before ex-President Donald Trump’s arraignment — including one who said she’ll vote for Trump even if he’s in jail.

Kaye has been reporting live from Doral ahead of Trump’s first appearance in court on 37 counts related to violations of the Espionage Act, which is set for Tuesday afternoon.

On Tuesday morning’s edition of CNN This Morning, Kaye described Trump’s mood Monday night as “upbeat,” and described a chaotic scene outside Doral Tuesday morning between Trump supporters and protesters and police.

BREAKING NEWS: Rolling Stone drops bombshell on Trump, reveals that he has been demanding that his “close advisors” find out the “names of senior FBI agents and Justice Department personnel who have worked on the federal probes into him” so that he can retaliate against them by “immediately purging the FBI and Justice Department’s ranks” of each and every single investigator who has investigated his deadly insurrection, Big Lie, and theft of highly classified documents.

But it gets worse.

Rolling Stone continues, “Separately, the twice-impeached former president has been saying for many months that on “day one” of his potential second term, he wants FBI director Christopher Wray “out” of the bureau” because he has refused to “purge the FBI of non-Trump loyalists.” Rolling Stone continues, reporting that, “During some of the conversations this year, including at Trump’s Florida club Mar-a-Lago, some of Trump’s close political allies told him that they are working on figuring out the identities of the FBI and DOJ staff and forming lists.”

This should strike fear in the heart of every single American, who gives a damn about our struggling democracy.
