Keep fucking around, we got a whole wall of dead people over here.
“I used the Imperial Emergency Act in the wake of Aldhani to gather data across multiple sectors without official sanction. But that is the wrong question.”
ANDOR - S01E07 Announcement
This is the moment where she went from being a mostly interesting character to ‘hot damn, she’s fucking compelling’. Finally, an Imp said what I’d been mentally shouting at the screen for years…
… Sir
Andor + text posts pt. 3
I love that Mon Mothma's number one plan when the empire is suspicious of her is to just heavily imply if not outright state marital problems. Why is she hanging out of her childhood friend all the time now? Marital problems. She's having an affair. Why is a bunch of money suspiciously missing from her accounts? Marital problems. Her husband is gambling. Why does she keep going to alderaan for dinner? Marital problems. She's having an affair with Bail Organa
BREAKING NEW ANDOR SHIP: HEERV
I promise you already love Heerv even though you don’t know them yet. You haven’t shipped it until now, and you’re sad for all the moments you spent watching Andor without knowing of Heerv. But that’s ok because you can open your heart to this wholesome Imperial duo and go back and watch all the Imperial scenes with a lighter heart now. First of all, we all love Heert, right? He’s Dedra’s little munchkin. Stays late to help with reports, probably provides the whole office with coldbrew each morning, and is definitely absolutely not gonna eventually backstab and usurp her rank at all.
And we all know Corv. Dedra’s undercover spy on the ground on Ferrix whom she trusted to be her only guard while on out on the street.
Well if you’re like me, you didn’t realize that Corv was ALSO the other guy in uniform when Heert went to collect Syril at the Bureau of Standards…
And when she interrogates him….
And … pretty much every other scene where they needed to show more than just Heert as her staffer.
They’ve obviously been working together for a good time. Look at that look Corv gives Heert. These are someone who can speak without words. There’s a million things Corv is saying here, and Heert understands entirely.
But the best part? Dedra’s aware of the whole thing and mama bears the absolute crap out of her baby boys. Newest headcanon? Our girl here is aroace and lives for Heert and Corv’s constant gossip. Hell, she’s helped celebrate their anniversaries before by making restaurant reservations for them that only people above a certain rank can make.
Bonus: When she tells Heert that he should go home because she didn’t realize how late they’d stayed at the office? It was because last time Heert stayed at work too late, Dedra got passive aggressive texts from Corv for a week until she promised she wouldn’t do it again without warning him first. And she was sorry the dinner was cold when Heert did finally get home.
Though she also learned never to trust him in matters of self care:
Still in doubt? Listen to the munchkin himself:
And why “munchkin”? Look back at all of these stills and see how JUST TINY HE IS. HES SO ADORABLE. GUYS HELP. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH (Inflicted on me and thus you by @mittheresabosen)

AND. YEAH. CORVHEERT IS BETTER. YOU’RE RIGHT.
In fact it’s SO corvheert it snuck up even on us. Truly amazing. Sneaky, stealth ship. It’s the submarine of Andor.
I think he is fascinated with her because of the power that she wields and the control that she wields. At the moment, he sees her and his life does change. His life up until that point was like, “Oh my God, I’ve been sequestered into anonymity in this massive factory plant for human workers, and I’m going to be living at my mom’s for forever.”
And then it progresses into — I would never condone this at all, but as he starts to stalk her, it turns into an obsession because what she represents, the power that she has, he desires. And in a way, he desires to be her, or at least be noticed by her or to be with her. And that gets confusing. Syril, I believe, has never been in love before. He’s never had a girlfriend or a boyfriend before, he’s just so repressed. I feel he’s had experiences like that, but he’s always kept himself very removed from that because he’s spent his energy on trying to become the best possible guard dog for the Empire. He sees everything else is a distraction.
- Kyle Soller
Reblogging because Kyle Soller and Denise Gough *get it*. I appreciate so much that they both not only understand how awful their characters are, but are outspoken about it. I’ve seen all the interviews with her about “please don’t root for Dedra, she’s fascist”, but I hadn’t seen any with Kyle about “I would never condone this at all, but he stalks her”.
Kudos to the actors! They’re fantastic. 💜
In Star Wars we always hear a lot about the rebel alliance, but I feel like a big theme in andor is the effectiveness of small, individual, grassroots acts of rebellion. Brasso tampering with the corpo’s ship. The kid on Ferrix with the homemade pipe bomb. Maarva’s hologram call to arms. The people of Aldhani making their pilgrimage. The sign language on Narkina 5. These are all completely unrelated. The rebel alliance and the main rebel cells are not the only ones rebelling, andor shows people rebelling individually. These aren’t organized, coordinated acts. They don’t have an organization or cause that they are rallying behind, the way Luthen and Saw Gerrera do. They are just simply fighting fascism, one act at a time. Even just their acts of civil disobedience throw the empire off, with the officers panicking, trying desperately to hold complete control. These regular, everyday people are not rebelling for the cause, they’re rebelling to survive. These people have been radicalized firsthand by the oppression and destruction that the empire has brought to their lives.
I think that’s what seems to hit Luthen when he’s on Ferrix. His rebel cell and the others like it are not the only ones rebelling. This regular woman’s call to arms started a revolt. He and the other rebel leaders are not the only ones instigating these acts. Rebellion is everywhere, organized or not.
I love the fact that the Empire totally failed in trying to capture Cassian on Ferrix. All that planning and they didn’t even get a glimpse of him.
stuck between 'noo 2 whole years until the next andor season 😭' and being glad there will be proper time to make this series and its quality won't be sacrificed for the sake of high speed attention economy
losing my mind re: the Star Wars Flute, clearly made by buying three shitty flutes off ebay and fucking them up
Syril/Dedra is Non Con. Period.
Let’s break this down a bit, because I’m seeing a lot of people amused at this ship, and I think we need a pretty frank discussion about what is actually going on. And before we begin, yes they are both awful people. Yes, she deserves to be put on trial at the Hague. I’m not arguing against any of that. But we absolutely need to divorce it for a moment from the concept of consent because the general acceptance or ‘hilarity’ of this ship is doing real mental damage to people (esp women and female presenting folx) and we NEED to acknowledge this. At the end of ep 12, Dedra is concussed. She’s been hit in the head by a thrown rock the size of someone’s fist, trampled, kicked, and taken prisoner. Does she deserve all that? Sure! She’s a willing participant in a battle. She’s there in a uniform on a side. She’s a combatant. When going into battle, you accept that you could be wounded or killed. She knew that, she’s trained for that. So far, we’re ok. She’s even rescued by an obviously Imperial character who’s *essentially* undercover on their own (albeit non sanctioned) mission. Well, she’s ISB and understands the world of espionage. Still kinda ok.
HOWEVER. Now that the combat situation is removed, we get into far murkier waters. This is a man that she’s told repeatedly to leave her alone. She’s given him warnings, she’s even given him leniency. She’s given him far more chances to stay away from her than others might have gotten. He’s stalked her. He’s GRABBED her outside of her workplace as she tried to get away. Outside of physical action, there’s literally nothing else she could have done to tell him “I’m not interested - go away.”
But he doesn’t. He’s OBSESSED with her. In fact he’s so obsessed with her that upon seeing her, he abandons his mission, abandons his friend (who probably thinks he’s been killed in the battle), and makes her his new objective. (Seriously, Syril, can’t even call your buddy to let him know you’re still breathing? Poor man’s just drinking in the street at the end afterward).
And what about Dedra’s state of mind in this moment?
My husband is a firefighter and says that there are three main categories for when people cannot give legal consent. In these three cases, he is allowed to take lifesaving actions against their stated will because they are considered not of sound mind. 1) Inebriation (drunk, high, or otherwise). 2) Grievously wounded. And 3) Concussed. Dedra’s obviously suffered an awful concussion. She’s shaking, she’s unable to speak clearly, she’s not in control in any way. And the man she viscerally *hates* and she’s told numerous times to leave her alone just saved her life. For all she knows, she may be hallucinating him.
And yet here. RIGHT HERE in this moment is when so many people cry out on tumblr and AO3 going “AHA! THEY’RE A COUPLE!”.
Guys. This is non-con.
Dedra is not in a sound state of mind. Every interaction she’s had with him while she was coherent makes her wishes toward this man *very* clear. She might not even return to a sound state of mind for days. Weeks even!
Concussion aftereffects can be *nasty*. I have a friend who still gets dizzy states and bouts of confusion ONE YEAR LATER from their own concussion. They have to wear special tinted glasses. It’s awful. Thankfully, they have a support system.
We know *nothing* about Dedra’s home support system. Does she have friends who can step in and be like “hold on, she hates you. Go away.”? Does she have any protection against this entitled, possessive, and obsessed incel? Anyone to stand up to him and say “no, she’s made her feelings toward you clear, you need to stop”?
And when a fic is written about just how *grateful* she is that he saved her life … is the author considering how many people may also have found themselves at one time or another stuck in this exact same position, unable to tell their obsessive abuser that “no, I hate you, go away”?
And when someone in your orbit tells you “hey, this is really messed up and makes me uncomfortable” did you laugh it off and tell them to relax, it’s ok because she’s evil anyway and deserves it?
Because that’s what this is, guys. Dedra did not give consent.
It doesn’t matter if the ship is “warm and fuzzy because he saved her and look how much he cares for her”. She did not give consent. She’s made her feeling toward him perfectly clear in all of her past actions. She’s given him CLEAR BOUNDRIES, but he zips right past them because he doesn’t respect them at all. Boundaries mean nothing to him.
Yes, she should be tried at the Hague for war crimes. But she doesn’t deserve this.
Gotta add my commentary here too since Jedi and I were talking about this after episode! Its okay to write problematic content if you like to, but there’s two things to keep in mind. ONE! Proper tagging of the content. And TWO! Acknowledgement that the situation is not healthy and is DEFINITELY not okay. Please for the love of all that is holy even in fiction don’t romanticize what’s non-consentual and make it be like: “Oh! Look how cute these characters are together!”
Let me tell ya, I have NEVER had as visceral reaction to something in fiction as that last scene with those two and ueah they’re BOTH terrible tbh. But I was sitting there like: “Legit, can we have an extra scene to know if she’s okay?”
Write the content you enjoy writing, but yeah 100% what Jedi said there! Don’t romanticize problematic and noncon ships!
This this this ^^ Thank you Shimo, yes, 100% absolutely agreed to all of your additions!! Writing problematic content is a Thing that some people enjoy, and that’s ok. Maybe some people even need it for their own healing processes. I don’t know and I’m not gonna judge.
But tag that shit! And also please absolutely realize that this ship *is* problematic. It *is* noncon. It’s not cute. It’s not warm and fuzzy. And it’s something that happens to real people every day.
I have literally had stress dreams both Wednesday and Thursday of this week trying to process this whole thing, and I’m not sure when it’ll end.
If you don’t have compassion for Dedra, at least have compassion for your fellow fans who are self IDing with this whole thing right now and recognize that it’s a story that’s very very flawed.

ANDOR episode 12 + tumblr/reddit comments
Brasso passing along Maarva’s messages to Cassian and giving Cassian the most heartfelt hug of all time, then putting on his uniform to honor Maarva’s memory, swing Maarva’s brick to kill some fucking fascists, fight through the crowd to scoop up Wilmon, and get him and a bunch of others on a ship to safety. literally who is on his level. who is doing it like him. sir I would die for you
All the different types of fascists and fascist enablers on display in Andor and all of them being equally reprehensible and equally functional as tools of the Empire’s atrocities… Dedra, the gaslight gatekeep girlboss who has worked her way up through the ranks of military intelligence through her cleverness and grit, despite the bias and obstacles facing her. Karn, the blue lives matter, ben shapiro-ass renegade cop from a working class background who desperately wants a seat at the table. The nameless politicians at Mon Mothma’s parties, who discuss whether or not to support useless legislative bills against empire-wide repression while sipping thousand-credit champagne. The “I’d like to hang him” prefect on Ferrix whose desire to wield power over others at every possible opportunity manifests in the cruelest and most visible forms of oppression. The prison guards and the prisoners who protect their system. The civilians like Timm who make small-scale fascist goals achievable with insider information. Again and again and again we see how every person within a fascist regime who is not actively moving against it becomes a cog in their system. And I hope you’re all paying attention because some of you need to hear it.
