It's finally here, "Star Wars" die-hards.
The official teaser trailer for the latest entry in the sprawling franchise debuted Friday at a fan convention in Chicago, providing the first glimpse at one of the most anticipated movie releases of the year.
“Star Wars” 40 years ago? How many parsecs is that? It's easy to quibble with the science of "Star Wars": you can't hear zooming spaceships in the vacuum of #space, lasers move at the speed of light, etc. Famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has even taken issue with the misuse of the term parsec in the "Star Wars" movies. (It's a unit of distance, not time.) However flimsy some of the science may be (Tyson prefers "Star Trek"), it's undeniable that in the 40 years since the first "Star Wars" film was released, on May 25, 1977, the franchise has inspired countless young people to take an interest in space and the universe. It also remains the No. 11 all-time top grossing movie, according to box office tracker The Numbers, which puts three subsequent "Star Wars" films at numbers one, seven and 10. (📷 Lucasfilm Ltd.)

By the end of the year, the $4.05 billion sale of Lucasfilm to Disney should be finalized. And since George Lucas owns 100 percent of his company - which has little to no debt — all that money goes to him.
After that, Lucas plans to quickly put the bulk of the money into a foundation which will primarily focus on educational issues, a spokesperson for Lucasfilm tells THR.

These cosplayers, a portmanteau of costume and play, walk the convention floor as onlookers gawk and photograph their elaborate attire.
