About a hundred pot smokers gathered in the cold at Seattle’s City Center on Wednesday night to celebrate the legalization of the possession of marijuana in Washington state. The law, which took effect at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, does not allow marijuana to be smoked in public, but you wouldn’t know it by watching the crowd. As the clock stuck midnight, cheers erupted, followed by lighters igniting pipes and joints.

The landing gear door of a Boeing 767 fell from the sky and narrowly missed a car parked a couple of feet away in Kent, Wash., NBC station KING 5 of Seattle reported.
Roughly the size of a refrigerator door, the Boeing part is made of carbon fiber, Federal Aviation Administration officials told KING. Bits of carbon fiber remained embedded deep in the pavement of Southeast 231st Way, about 15 miles east of Seattle, after FAA officials toted the part away as part of an investigation, KING reported.

SEATTLE - Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez pitched the 23rd perfect game in major-league history on Wednesday, beating the Tampa Bay Rays 1-0 at Safeco Field.
Hernandez struck out 11 batters on 112 pitches. Sean Rodriguez was the 27th and final out of the game.
