this absolutely is a britney-esque situation. chappell is not just reacting to bad press and discourse regarding her political statement (which was actually a good one but that’s a different topic).. she’s reacting to being stalked, assaulted by a fan, yes bullied online, people taking EVERYTHING she says in bad faith or twisting it so they can be mad at her, and the fact that all of this is taking on her mental health as she has anxiety and bipolar disorder. it’s not as simple as “she canceled a concert and can’t handle being critiqued” and to water it down to such a complete misunderstanding of the situation shows that you don’t really know what’s going on and that you lack the empathy, emotional intelligence, and understanding of mental illness like bipolar disorder to even be touching this topic.
