Pantheons: A Universe Where the Divine and Mortals

About to Introduce something I’ve been working on with my friends for a looooong while.

It’s a worldbuilding/book idea that I’ve been making, in a Universe where the gods are both real and tangible, where they walk alongside mortals, and govern massive amounts of territory in real-space. Mortals pray to the gods and empower them, and in-turn different Pantheons watch over them and protect, both from the various monsters of mythology... and against each other.

It’s a universe that explores how gods affect everything political, economic and biological, alongside the backdrop of civilizations rising from the backdrop of the ruins of a long-fallen galactic empire.

Currently contemplating making a sub-tumblr for this, but we’ll see!

Finally got time to do some personal work. This is for my original setting, simply titled Pantheons. Also Kaijune!

Here, The Archangels Michael and Raphel, witness the emergence of one of the greatest creature to ever walk... A gigantic theropod-like monster named Behemoth.

The planet, forbidden by all angels within the realm of Outremer, is one of impossible size, being as large or larger than the solar system of the Earth, and filled with titanic flora and fauna unlike anything seen in the galaxy.

In spite of all that, it remains one of the lushest, most vibrant places in the Galaxy, untouched by the creeping march of civilization that has devastated the ecosystems in other planets in the Galaxy.

It is name Gan’Haden, after an old story told amongst the Angels.

Finally got to continue this world building project of mine!

For this scenario, an American Bison challenges a Texas Longhorn bull in front of an abandoned Alamo.

I’ve been in a bit of a personal funk lately, so I tried to motivate myself to try out digital painting, and I’m certainly pleased with the results so far!

And on to some personal projects! Doing some world-building, based off my the original setting I had imagined for my Project Pantheons series of creature and character designs.

The more I made lore, the more I found out “hey I could make a science fantasy storyline outta this.” So, well, I did (still rough, but it ha a beginning, middle, and end).

From Top to Bottom:

The Archangels Michael and Raphael. The main guy and gal of the setting, representing the Warrior and the Healer. It’s a classic broody boy (though not really, he’s just trying to do his best) and upbeat girl kinda dynamic, thought with a LOT of development as the mood of the story gets progressively more darker, and more pantheons are introduced to the setting.

The Archangels Gabriel and Raguel. Part of Mike and Raph’s posse, and the Messenger and Justice entity of the Angelic faction. Raguel is from the same twin star system as Raph, essentially making her Raph’s twin. Gabriel is of course, the messenger who acts as the glue of the group as well as the liaison to the rest of Angel-kind... and other godly beings.

All angels in the setting are born from stars, and group of angels manifesting themselves at around the same decade (or two), are considered part of a ‘generation’ of Angels.

The main thing I also want to do drawing my version of the angels is that they don’t always follow the standard gold-white look of angels that’s usually presented. I want to try and do diverse skin tones and color palettes for each.

Today’s Inktober! 

First of all, I just wanted to give a big thank you to all who liked and reblogged my Jaguar and Kangaroo piece. It got a LOT more notes than I was honestly expecting!

For here on, the setting will be called No Man’s Land, set in a world in the near-future where humans just mysteriously disappeared, leaving life to its own ends.

This one has a more pronounced science fiction bent to it. It’s set in an artificial island, constructed by an eccentric billionaire as both a conservation site and a giant ecological experiment: He wanted to see if he could create a reptile dominant ecosystem isolated from outside interference. It’s name is simple: Reptile Isle. 

When he and the rest of humanity disappeared, the reptiles were set to fend for themselves, and have thus begun claiming specific niches for themselves.

Here, a young Perentie scrambles for his life as a Komodo Dragon claims a much-vaunted prize; the recently deceased corpse of a leatherback sea turtle who has died of old age. Meanwhile Marine Iguanas simply spectate the events that unfold.

Hi there everyone! Just wanted to share with y’all what I’ve been doing for the past few months. Some original work, here focusing on mythology of the world... Specifically the sequel to my Project Pantheon setting. Essentially a science fantasy setting with various re-interpretations of world mythology.

First batch was the monsters, and now I’m focusing on the heads of the Pantheons themselves.

First off is Nammu, above representing the Mesopotamian Pantheon, the Sumerian goddess of Primordial Waters who can also shapeshift to a variety of monsters... Including the monster Tiamat.

Representing the Chinese Pantheon, Yu Huang, the Jade Emperor, Lord of Heaven and the head of the Celestial Bureaucracy. Here he’s also master of all Gravity.

And to round of the batch, is Vishnu, Lord of the Dharma and the Preserver of the Hindu Pantheon. He commands all of Space-Time and a gigantic space ship.

I want to give a special shoutout to @carnivorecreations, @mrslittletall, and @rendragonclaw, and @miuzes for the constant support as I was creating the series. As well as @tyrantisterror, who got me interested in exploring mythology and mythological themes waaaaaaay back during my earlier years on DA.

Amaterasu - Of the Japanese Pantheon

Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl/Kukulcan  - Representing the Aztec and Mayan Pantheons

Ra - Representing Egypt of course!
