Time to reveal what I've been doing for Halloween/Spooktober!
Basically a personal character design challenge, inspired by my Tiger vs Slasher Villain post!
The gist is that it's set in a town that's basically a magnet for various kinds of horror villain archetypes, ESPECIALLY Slashers... hence its Name.
The Leads: The main protags of the challenge/setting.
Animal Companions: Filling in for the Animal guide/voice of wisdom, ala Coraline
Cannibal Archetypes: Self explanatory
Lethal Ladies: Because one can never go wrong with more female slasher villains!
Killer Clowns: And this time, they're a family!
Terrible Toys: Three different flavors of violent toy!
Oceanic Killers: Because you gotta have a Jaws reference!
Primeval Horrors: Because everything's better with dinosaurs!
Having seen these come out in the Patreon, it’s been a fantastic design challenge! You’ve done an excellent job of getting these made and giving each character such a distinct set of personalities, wonderful wonderful work!

Hey there everyone! Just wanted to share a project I’ve been doing a while now. It’s a post apocalyptic setting that I’ve been building a for a while now, called No Man’s Land.
Inspired primarily by works such as Aftermath: Population Zero, and Life After People, it’s a post apocalyptic setting where humans went “poof”, and in their place are the animals we left behind.
Zoo animals, former pets, and invasive plant and animal species now deal with a world that once was made for our benefit, now surviving on their own. Scenarios include:
- Gorillas and invasive bamboo in the Pacific Northwest
- The Flood Tunnels of Tokyo being taken in by kelp, clams, crustaceans and a very lost Giant Squid
- Redwood forests with bonobos and elephants
- Ruins of buildings, such as the London Tower, providing home for birds and a London filled with lions and bison
- Various conflicts big and small, including a Pleistocene throwback of a Brown Bear trying to scare off lions off a buffalo.
- Breeds of dogs finding their own niche based on what we bred them for, like ratting and terrier dogs hunting squirrels and rats.
I could see this being the setting of a game, be it a TTRPG or a video game!
Now THAT would be a dream xD.
Would love it to be an open-world game, though picking the animal protag is gonna be tough!
It would be especially neat if the animals somehow gained sentience/sapience, like your post about the self-expression of sapient megafauna.
Who knows? There’s a lot I can go with this, while still keeping things close to my chest (as I feel like publishing this one day).
Hey there everyone! To round of Weretober of 2022, Just wanted to share what I’ve been doodling up the past week! Paleontology Inspired Werebeasts! You can find much of the lore on either my reddit (u/NazRigarA3D) or my Instagram (Nazrigar)! In general, I wanted to try out both creature designing AND designing relics.
Set in the same world as my Mermay posts :).
Firstly, hi Van! It’s been a while indeed!
Secondly, it’s an oddly underused archetype, as we know that, historically Tyrannosaurus rex had a pretty brutal af lifestyle. More brutal than IRL gladiators, cuz at the very least, most do it for show.

Again, thanks y’all for the support in my previous Mermay batches! Part 1 Part 2 This week, I wanted to explore the various forms of sexual dimorphism in Merfolk, ALSO inspired by real life Biology! From the massive size of differences between male and female Blanket octopus and Angler fish to the almost non existent size difference in Oarfish and Beaked Whales! It was also neat to explore various cultures from outside of Kara’s (The Great White from Part 1) town, for example the Narwhal and Salmon folk are northern adjacent nomadic tribes.
And unlike their IRL animals, even after pairing up or having kids, these Merfolk still get to live their lives (so the Salmon and Octopus folk get to live long lives here!)
These are all great! My favorites are possibly the inconvenient narwhal dude, and the betta lady going “Fight! Fight! Fight!”

lots of toh finale thoughts rattling around in my brain, but first and foremost I wanna throw in my theory about how belos is gonna be taken out. because sure, it'd be satisfying if luz or eda or hunter got to deal the final blow, but you know who ELSE deserves revenge on him?

oh but tumblr user mossharpy that makes no sense, how are a buncha dead critters gonna enact revenge on a basically all-powerful witch hunter? fair point. except for the fact that someone in the main cast was literally gifted a seed to plant new palistrom wood!! there's no way this was just a one and done interaction, dana's way smarter than that.
so here's my pitch: the final battle goes on, belos is down and cornered, and the palistrom seed is planted inside him.
...and then we just have to let willow do her thing.
‘Grom-Tree’ing Belos into Palisman Wood would be such an ironic ending for him
This reminds me of an amazing comic @nazrigar drew awhile back (don't have the link), it was of a classic horror movie slasher fighting a tiger and he promptly gets killed by said tiger. For the life of me I cannot recall who said it, but a reblog on this comic spoke of how no man could compete with tigers as they evolved for millions of years into the perfect hunters. How every shape of bone, way joints moved and their mindset has been naturally shaped to win in a fight
So imagine it; someone plants that Palistrom seed in Belos. In his mindscape, it frees the souls of every Palismen he's devoured. He's now surrounded by an assortment of beasts, all of them a creature he hunted for his own sustenance and sport
He always fancied himself a hunter. But at this point he realizes that by making an enemy of the wilderness, he is now prey for untamable beasts and magic
And they are hungry
OOooooh! LOVE this theorizing! And indeed, it would be a poetic defeat for the Puritan Witch Hunter man himself, Belos.

Due to the most recent T.rex naming drama, which most scientists don’t take seriously, I had a dumb idea: An Animated Comedy focusing on a family of T.rexes… named after the many, many names T.rex had over the years:
