For the past few months, let’s just say that things were *crazy* so I didn’t get much time to update... but thankfully this week was pretty mellow!
...This chapter is dedicated to @funnyfany . Because in this chapter... The Ravenblight is explicit and definitely relevant to the overall plot. And gosh dangit... it seems to be SUCH an interesting dynamic (even though we have NO idea how Amity’s dad is like).

So here’s a quick preview of the newest chapter of my fanfic!
It’s actually gonna be divided in two, because the chapter has become SO massive.
Here comes Chapter 4!
To my shock, this was even LONGER than Chapter 1! And that one had the most world-building elements, my specialty!
This was basically a big exercise in how to write dramatic tension, as well as how to write feelings of awkwardness between two individuals... Also sister fun-times!
I have to say, I have to credit @miuzes as my co-writer for this chapter. She basically wrote a lot of paragraphs that helped me learn how to write drama, tension, and sadness. Dialogue is more my specialty, so it was great to learn from someone who’s great at descriptions.
I will be heading off to bed. Have to wake up early.

Originally there was gonna be a LOT more images, but anxiety and commission work and preparation for the return of my day job meant I can only upload three, and I plan to upload my fic today.

What was supposed to be a simple Eda and Lilith fun-time bonding adventure, but it now turns into a feels involving Amity as well and gosh dang it I’m a sucker for angst and reconciliation. Also, I owe a lot of thanks to @miuzes.

Summary: Months after the incident in Belos' Castle, and with everyone having gotten used to the new dynamic within the Owl House, Luz, Eda and Lilith take a visit to one of the greatest landmarks in all of Bonesborough... the Bonesborough Museum of Natural History. If there's any place that would help find Luz a way to get back home, it's there! What they were NOT expecting, is bumping into the Museum's primary benefactor, the Blight Patriarch himself, Alador Blight. Proud, powerful and dangerous, he exudes absolute authority, and exemplifies what a Blight should be... much to Luz and the gang's frustration.
Then, later that night, Luz senses a dark, looming presence within the museums halls, and that there's more to the Blight Patriarch than meets the eye...

when I was thinking of an Anchiornis-inspired raven-bat-thing beast, I wasn't exactly thinking of a whole mohawk, maybe a little tuft of featherhair sticking down that's redder in color, but with you mentioning a mohawk, now I'm thinking of it being sort of like the crest of a cockatoo or a cockatiel where it's usually flattened down but can be stood erect when agitated!

It really has been a hot minute, but regarding the idea of Lilith’s cursed form taking after a Microraptor because of the corvid-like coloration, here’s another idea I’ve had. Remember that the black hair we see on Lilith is actually her dying her hair to look “more intimidating,” and that her hair color, like Eda’s original hair color, was red/orange. Combine that orange hair color with her new black hair and some white from a magpie, and boom. ANCHIORNIS.

Well I’m going ahead with it. I’m either gonna make a comic or fanfic involving Raven!Mom vs Wolf!Dad. Also, a Luz and Eda cameo!
So, in preparation, I made some practice sketches! The goal is to make their movements feel as lively and packed with energy as you would see in either a Hollywood movie or in IRL animals. Explosiveness is the key here.
Lily has a size advantage, while Alador has more bulk. This is to make sure they look evenly matched.
They are duking it out... for Amity.

Fany… you did it. You managed to make a crackship not only plausible but also BELIEVABLE AND SOMETHING THAT IS TOTALLY IN-CHARACTER.
You also managed to do it without “Draco-in-Leather-Pants”-ing Alador (for those of y’all who do not frequent tvtropes, it’s the tendency to like downplay the flaws of a certain character for shipping purposes). He’s still a terrible person… yet the way he interacts with Lilith feels very natural.

And you totally deserve that praise Fany! Even better since you managed to do it when we know almost nothing about Alador! I think it’s a testament to your skill, the first comment on your fic on AO3 is how they’re thirsting for more regarding your crackship.
On a side note, thank you for letting Lilith’s Raven do raven things like being capable of speech and demanding attention. I LOVED the fact you used actual birb knowledge to give Lilith’s palisman a LOT of character. Ravens are awesome and the fandom should take full advantage of their awesomeness.

In a true mark of hyperfixation that I haven’t had in a while... I have TOO MANY Owl House ideas for art (and one I’m EXTREMELY tempted to do a fanfic of) that I don’t know which to start!
There’s the Natural History Museum piece that I feel like doing (because I want, an actual comic (gasp) featuring a full fledged monster brawl between Cursed!Lilith vs Werewolf!Alador.
...
Or a single piece of dialogue comic where Luz chews the f*** outta Alador for being a terrible father in the Werewolf AU. She may be bubbly and adorable, but I think she would REALLY hate him. Even if he did tries to be better, there’s no real reason for Luz to actually believe him.
Plus, there needs to be more Luz-centric pieces vs. potential antagonists besides Belos imo.

In this piece? Yup. It's meant to be ironic in Alador's case. This is the closest thing to affection he shows his own daughter... and he did it as a literal monster rather than a person.

It's fine anon, no need to be embarassed. Wow... this perhaps my first ever kind of ship related ask ever, so apologies for any awkwardness (the Star Wars shipping fights have made me EXTRA cautious. To this day I'm scared of shipping most stuff. Rayllum and Lumity are the exceptions).
I can actually see it as an interesting dynamic between two rather morally gray characters (or in Alador's case, an outright awful father based on what we've seen in canon).
If I were to write it, both Lily and Aladork would probably start with a truce or something. After that, who knows? They can actually talk about how terribly they treated their protege/daughter respectively, and how they both desperately need to be better.
All in all, a great recipe for angst and doomed romances.

Designed a full body version of Lilith’s beast form based on my previous picture.
I wanted to combine elements of both bat and bird, and took a lot of inspiration from feathered dinosaurs to get the look (thanks anon). And Monster Hunter!
There’s also this really neat fanfic on Ao3 called Motherings and Misunderstandings. I wish the author had a tumblr account so that I may credit them properly, as it’s a sweet little fanfic that I enjoyed reading immensely.
For my interpretation, it’s not just the maternal aspect, but also Lilith’s deep seeded need to atone and mend her relationships also having an effect in this form.

Since Lilith is associated with Ravens, I made her attracted to silvery-objects, kinda like Magpies. And Eda of course likes glowing objects!

On a design note, since Lilith was originally gonna transform into a bat monster, I tried to mix elements of both a bat AND a bird. If I have time, I totally would make a full design.
