2024 - The Year of the Tyrannical Monke Monarch

If I had a nickel every time I get to watch a movie with a dictatorial ape with tyrannical ambitions in the same year, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Seriously though, this is a hilarious coincidence and I love it. One is extra large and seems to rule through fear. One is man-sized and seems to rule through personal charisma.

It's going to be an interesting look on how to write two different versions of, essentially, the same archetype.

Once again, apologies for lack of updates and general inactivity! It’s only just recently I’ve had time for personal work. This is one of ‘em!

Basically a tribute to my favorite dinosaur, and all it’s multiple interpretations, inspirations and creatures derived from it.

As one can tell, I’m VERY hyped for the new movie! Godzilla is one of my all time favorite characters since boyhood, so to once again see him duke it out with another iconic film character brings me MUCH joy!

Made this as a way to give tribute to the original Godzilla vs King Kong. As one era sets, another begins!

I am SO excited for the trailer tmrw (or Today, because Indonesian timezones). Since it also coincides with the AFC championship, I get to combine two of my favorite things! Kaijus and Football!

This honestly infuriates me to no end, as it was never even meant to be sold. It’s just fan art for fun and I’m disappointing someone is using it make money off it. Furthermore, I have absolutely no connection to the site, and as an artist, I find it very sad that are actually abusing platforms that helps artists find their footing in the world. So just a heads up. Check if your art is also being used without permission.

A week ago this day, Guillermo Del Toro won the Oscars for both Best Director AND Best Picture for The Shape of Water. As a monster fan ever since childhood, you have NO idea how much that means to me, doubly so because I LOVE Guillermo Del Toro’s work. To see a film that is, essentially, part of The Creature of the Black Lagoon’s legacy to nab THE top prize in Hollywood is nothing short of phenomenal, in a genre where movie monsters have been a staple since the beginning; from the era of Karloff’s Frankenstein and Lugosi’s Dracula all the way to the Xenomorph and the Predator and BOTH Clash of the Titans (the old one is still better). And at long last, after all these decades, a monster movie nabs the Oscar.

Thank you Guillermo Del Toro, you never cease to amaze us, and inspire us to create and imagine.

Regarding the picture, kept in Black and White for the most part, to really capture that vintage 1940s-50s feel. Only the statue is colored.

Overall I thought it was a pretty fun movie, really liked the monsters, but wow was it fast paced.

Also a commentary on the ruthlessness of the skullcrawlers, I thought it would be fun to draw a skullcrawler without a massive appetite xD

It's a good day to see the big lizard again. The commemorate his longevity, I actually mixed a lotta elements from previous Godzillas onto his more bulky 2014 design, can you find them :).

It's amazing considering how long and how many monsters that's been concieved since the beginning, he still the King.

A Lineart piece for my tribute art to Godzilla's return in film this year (only 6 days away yay!). Here, Godzilla stands above rivals, progenitors and contemporaries. In all of cineme, no matter how different people's tastes in monsters have become, it's a powerful statement to Godzilla longevity as a character, that he has always been called, above all others, the King of Monsters.

Police Commissioner King Kong, the third "major" character in Mobzilla. As a reference to Godzilla vs King Kong, but also an ironic take on King Kong.

My first tumblr post! Well, since I draw mostly monsters on DA, I present to you Mobzilla, just a parody about kaijus set in either a noir or cop action flick.
