Beast Fables - Megafauna of the Continents Part 2.

Part 2 of jotting down the great Megafauna of my Beast Fables setting, featuring the regions of Samudria and Ifranika.

Samudria is essentially Fantasy Southeast Asia and Oceana, and all the island critters that essentially call it home. Because of this, evolution takes a lot of turns, including here in a (relatively) low fantasy setting.

Ifranika meanwhile is a continent filled to the brim with Megafauna, from giant birds to the very last Deinotheres. However, it's also a lesson in that, just because it's a fantastical setting, doesn't mean all the animals above are thriving. The raketusk elephant (Deinotherium), is not only the last of its genus and line, but dwindling in numbers.

No Man’s Land - Exploring a Post-Human World with the Animals Left Behind

Hey there everyone! Just wanted to share a project I’ve been doing a while now. It’s a post apocalyptic setting that I’ve been building a for a while now, called No Man’s Land.

Inspired primarily by works such as Aftermath: Population Zero, and Life After People, it’s a post apocalyptic setting where humans went “poof”, and in their place are the animals we left behind.

Zoo animals, former pets, and invasive plant and animal species now deal with a world that once was made for our benefit, now surviving on their own. Scenarios include:

- Gorillas and invasive bamboo in the Pacific Northwest

- The Flood Tunnels of Tokyo being taken in by kelp, clams, crustaceans and a very lost Giant Squid

- Redwood forests with bonobos and elephants

- Ruins of buildings, such as the London Tower, providing home for birds and a London filled with lions and bison

- Various conflicts big and small, including a Pleistocene throwback of a Brown Bear trying to scare off lions off a buffalo.

- Breeds of dogs finding their own niche based on what we bred them for, like ratting and terrier dogs hunting squirrels and rats.

My third attempt at Digital Painting! I drew this largely because, in all honesty, I always wondered why we never try to write fiction about potentially sentient animals being uplifted to human-level intelligence, like we do with apes.

This year being Planet of the Apes 50th anniversary I also thought it’d be most appropriate xD.

Here an Elephant Matriarch does not appreciate a Chimp troop leader hunting near her herd
