oh my god sorry the thing about the doctor and martha is that the doctor is doing so so bad. like hes spiraling and he knows it and he knows he needs someone with him and this time its not to show someone the wonders of the universe, its literally just because if he doesnt get some company soon hes going to kill himself. and so he picks (seduces) martha because shes brave and smart and competent and HE leans on HER the ENTIRE TIME!! he constantly puts his life in her hands and leaves her to save the day because he trusts that she can because THATS WHY HE PICKED HER!!! he picked someone just like him to look after him and then he has the AUDACITY and the GALL to turn around like why are you acting like me martha. Martha. why are you working for unit (like i did) why are you a soldier (like i was) why are you going to blow up your planet for the greater good (LIKE I DID!!!!!!). he chose a medical student and then was surprised when she took up the doctor mantle. he is so stupid

Also, Time Lords are so fucked up.

Normal operation is ~98.6 degrees.

But a fever of 103 requires emergency assistance. 108 can be fatal.

Hypothermis 95 degrees and below, down to 82 degrees.

And Time Lords have a body temperature range of 60 degrees (more common) up to 87 degrees.

The Doctor must feel like a walking ice cube to their companion's and their companion's must feel like walking furnaces!

umm @you-have-to-use-your-imagination having to choose between staying (I thought this said saving for a bit here and I was losing my mind even more, though that makes the choice a little too easy) in this universe and finding out where she came from!!!!?!? That is IT that is amazing. Like it’s perfect, and shows her what truly matters is the universe she has travelled through and loved and been loved by – no more found family, found UNIVERSE. It’s so meta as well, same with 12’s regeneration. Continue, or let it all rest… I love it.

The Rani: “Do you remember when I spent two decades on my thesis, and then suddenly changed the subject two days before the deadline?” The Master: “We assumed you’d built your own TARDIS or something to do it in time.”

The Rani: “Of course not, I’m not an engineer. I had simply anticipated certain pushbacks on The Origin Of Time Lords, and simultaneously worked on a backup thesis on the applications of Endeavouran Tussle Fungus.

The Master: “Groundbreaking.”

The Rani: “In the correct dose, yes, it could cause people to do that. Weaponised aggression was something the council were particularly interested in. They used it for war crimes I believe. Either way, it became apparent that Theta’s genetic code was - and I quote the CIA operative who turned over my lab - “super fucking classified”. Given his habit of exchanging bodily fluids with people, I imagine most of his arrest warrants are for reckless distribution of restricted materials. That 100-people-in-100-days snogathon he did must’ve required quite the clean-up operation. No wonder we never saw most of them again.”

The Master: “I thought that was cus he labelled them to avoid repeats as soon as they’d finished.”

The Rani: “Look, it’s a hypothesis, I understand people on a genetic level, not a social one.”

Greetings & welcome to the 2020-2021 Doctor Who #fiftiethmasterversary Big Bang, in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of the Master appearing in Doctor Who! This is our official Big Bang account, so you can check in here for updates, FAQ, and more information as we continue to organize this event.

What is a Big Bang?

A Big Bang is a fandom event in which creators (artists and fic writers) pair up to create work together! In our event, artists will pick fics they want to illustrate/create for from pitches set by fic writers.

I can’t draw, but I can make gifsets/edits/et cetera. Can I still join?

Of course! We welcome artists of all kinds. 

How do I sign up?

Sign ups will be open June 24th, and they’ll be open until July 14th! To sign up, you must have a Tumblr account, and you must join our Discord server once the Big Bang begins. We’re only accepting artists and writers from the age of 13 & up this time around. 

Betas

You are not required to have a beta reader for this event, although it is encouraged. Reach out to us if you want to beta, but not write or create art. We’ll have a beta match channel on our Discord server, too! 

Where will the fanfictions and art be posted?

They’ll be posted here on this Tumblr, in a masterpost (haha, masterpost) of the Big Bang submissions. We’ll also have a collection on AO3, and our Tumblr tag is #fiftiethmasterversary!

New idea: an adventure into a spaceship, It’s huge, it’s beautiful but a disease is spreading. And it kills, the doctor too. They are hurt and looking for a way to recover. The solution a pod, to sleep in. They access to it and the pod establish 2000 years needed of recovery and the spaceship wont last a year, as well as companions who cant wait that long. 

So the master take upon themselves to be on the spaceship, doing maintenance, watching for 2000 years, making sure that the one who are sleeping are ok.

They send away the companions on the TARDIS setting it to the exact date of the waking up of the sick ones. And they watch over the doctor.

When they are waking up, the spaceship changed a lot, it was reduced in size, some part used for maintenance. The doctor wake up at the sounds of TARDIS arriving, its only been seconds to all of them.

The doctor finds a message from the Master, telling them that they got tired of waiting so they made design change, drastic and trusted the spaceship to handle 2000 years. Hoping to see them soon and perky.

The Doctor is a little disappointed but appreciate the action. and they leave. 

The message dating was kinda weird, it was the day before they woke up.

As I continue to lose my mind over Doctor Who, it’s finally clicked for me why it was that this whole reveal and character turn resonated with me so hard. (Beyond my long and abiding love for Sacha Dhawan.)

I really expected O to be a one-off for this two part finale. Or at best, maybe a companion for a brief arc. But I truly never thought he’d be such a vital character, one who fits into the larger history of the show because, quite frankly, brown actors rarely get these kinds of roles. Like try as I might, years of casting and general Hollywood history didn’t even let me hope along those lines. And I think that’s part of what made the whole thing so effective and invigorating as a reveal in a way that Missy’s wasn’t. (Though in her case we all knew who she was, and it was simply a matter of waiting for the show to confirm it.)

Also, as far as reveals go, that one was so fucking good. When you rewatch the episode you see all these hints and clues just hiding in plain sight, like a magic trick — or a heist movie — and you kick yourself for not seeing it all along. Part of it is that we didn’t expect this character back so soon, but what better way to explore this Doctor better than by bringing in someone with such a personal connection? And what an effective way to dig into Thirteen’s past. (It’s also a nice way to have the companions start to question everything. After all that relationship is the story of what happens when friendship goes wrong, and who knows the darker side of the Doctor than someone who’s experienced it in various degrees over the years?)

It’s such a contrast from Moffat’s style, in which he had to make sure viewers knew the show (and by virtue, he) was the smartest thing in the room. But whenever you examine any of his plots for too long (at least on Who) they fall apart quite quickly or don’t make sense. Here it felt like the show knew what it was doing and that it trusted that we loved and believed in the Doctor enough to surprise us much like it did her. And what an excellent surprise to start off the series. I only pray that he gets to stick around till the end in a nice long arc where we and “the fam” start to question everything.

I think it speaks to both good writing and progressive casting that I’m actually this excited about a show I’m pretty enthusiastic about in general. It’s meant so much to have Yas travel around with Thirteen (who was already a massive deal), as well as the episode set during the partition of India. But now getting to see Dhawan play this character, of all characters, is just an absolute delight — and not just because he’s a fantastic actor.) It actually feels like Doctor Who is mine in a way it hasn’t been before, despite having loved the show all these years. So yes, representation does really matter and I’m grateful for any time we get to spend with this character and I really hope they do him justice.
