Some inking practice from the past couple days! I wanted to try focusing on bringing texture & complexity into these drawings. that character on the right is a new one I’ve been developing for a new story, and I feel like I’ve finally gotten a handle on them with that drawing :B
SO HEY, here’s something fun… I got a commission from @siins!!!! I’ve followed them for a long time and always loved their style, so seeing my own characters in this way is just really lovely for me :’D and also it’s just great seeing Bonnie and Szzi through the lens of another person’s work, seeing how other people interpret and draw designs! feels very inspiring to me.

For day 25: Nakki’s Halloween costume! I feel like a witch costume fits her pretty well, haha.
Dressing your OCs up in Halloween costumes is the artist equivalent of dressing your pets for Halloween: hilariously satisfying.
Anyways, Szzi’s Halloween costume this year is a palm tree. :B
Day 19!!!
Bonnie has a phobia of aliens and extraterrestrials… which works out about as well as you think it will, being that she’s from a sci-fi comic about aliens. WHOOPS.
Inktober 18!!! I’m sick today so I don’t have any brain, so here’s just a Szzi bust. She’s as confused as I am.
Inktober 14 brings back an old friend…! At least I think she’s a friend. Yeah, she’s friendly enough!
It’s Nakki!! She’s looking different. Quite different. I did some brainstorming over the summer about Niniians, her species, and their looks have changed quite a bit. For reference, this is what Nakki used to look like. Yeah, pretty big changes were made. :B But she’s still the same ol’ Nakki! Well. More or less the same. Though some who know about her experiences on Earth would beg to differ….
Day 11 brings us another Bonnie fact!!
Bonnie started presenting as a girl and transitioning when she was 12 years old! She changed quite a bit from 5th to 6th grade, so I thought it’d be cute to share what her school picture day photos from those years would’ve looked like. :B

Inktober day 9! Continuing day 7′s theme… climbing trees unfortunately has consequences sometimes, and Bonnie was no stranger to them as a child. The most notable event involved her falling out of the tree directly onto her face, though luckily she didn’t get too badly hurt outside of a deep scratch on her nose bridge. and that’s the story of how she got that scar on her nose! :’B

Inktober day 7!! We’ve seen Szzi as a child, so now it’s Bonnie’s turn!
Bonnie had asthma when she was really little, but after moving to the countryside her health improved a lot. By age 7 or 8 she was extremely active - and it helped that she had a ton of forests and fields to explore near her home! she especially loved climbing trees. :D

Inktober #4 - even though she’s slightly allergic to them (less so as an adult than she was as a kid), Bonnie’s favorite animal is a cat!!! She just loves ‘em to bits. Perhaps part of why she likes them so much was because she was always admiring them from afar, since she was very allergic to them as a child ;; yay for growing up and being able to cuddle cats!

I can tell you with absolute certainty that if Szzi wasn’t constantly wearing a spacesuit, she would instead constantly be wearing sandals.
Inktober #3! Szzi, being from a different planet, is not very familiar with the kinds of fauna on Earth and because of that (among other reasons) she gets a bit nervous around them. but you can’t blame her - that dog is pretty intimidating!

Inktober #2 is about Bonnie and her family! Caleb Bright is Bonnie’s dad, and he raised her as a single parent. They have a very good relationship even though they don’t see each other often - Bonnie’s always moving around for work. But whenever they’re able, they love to hang out and catch up!

I want to start posting pages for chapter 1 of my webcomic, The Woman From Venus, by the end of the year… whether it be on Tumblr or some other site. as such, I’ve had to update the character designs yet again to fit with the rewritten plot and also the way my style has changed since, what, 2014? ugh, gross.
anyways - here’s an updated drawing of Szzi, lookin’ good and prickly as always! She’s basically a cactus. I love her.
