I needed to draw myself a Halloween-y icon for my Twitter, and I accidentally’d a whole headcanon :’D

Anybody in skin-to-ink contact with sanitized ink for an extended period will eventually develop a stain - i.e., an Inkling scar. Depending on how concentrated the sanitized ink was, the ripple-like stains may not be visible under regular light… but if you shine a UV light/blacklight on it, the stains will light up as shown here. All Sanitized Octarians (including octo Tartar) have these scars, as well as Agent 8; 8′s scars aren’t noticeable under visible light. Meanwhile the sanitized ink used to control Agent 3 was much more concentrated than usual, so it left both a visible stain and a UV reactive one. All of these scars are really only cosmetic… or a weird party trick, if that’s what you’re into. :’O

a li’l concept sketch for you all this Sunday… here’s my ideas for my Splatoon agents! these three are all about 16 years old!!

Zigzag aka Ziggy is Agent 8 - a total anxious mess due to her first few memories and experiences on the stressful Deepsea Metro, but deeply brave and determined… just let her freak out a bit first. She’s generally quiet and softspoken, but if you get her going about something she’s interested in such as weaponry specs she’ll talk your ear off.

Houndstooth aka Hound is Agent 3, the edgelord. They’re nonbinary and genderfluid, often changing their appearance depending on how they feel, which is why the Cap’n needed help remembering how they looked. He’s a total tryhard, but has trained so hard that he can actually be as cool as he thinks he is sometimes… She comes off standoffish or cold, but that’s only because she’s very socially awkward. Ziggy is very good at reading them! They also have a bit of color-scarring from being hijacked.

Paisley is Agent 4 and they are an absolute gremlin. They’re a grade A jackass who loves goofing off and sticking their nose into secret places… such as finding every Sunken Scroll possible! Though they aren’t as thoroughly trained or physically skilled as the others, they often succeed on missions through their own audacity, determination, and sheer dumb luck. They also love to mess with Hound (if Hound had his way, the circle game would be illegal).

People tend to look the opportunity over, but I like to imagine that once 3 realizes their destructive power, they are teeming with a heavy guilt they must overcome.  8 takes it really well because they understand what it is like to blindly be told and controlled in their beliefs and actions. 3 still has yet to allow themselves the same forgiveness.
