I can tell a lot of people saying that Striker isn't a supremacist think we mean "Striker hates royalty, so he must be an imp supremacist" instead of "Striker actually looks down on imps just as much as royals do (but he views himself as a exception)"
People need to realize that Striker hating royalty/rich people was never the problem. He's completely valid to feel that way
The problem is the fact that he would not gaf about any of these issues if he weren't an imp himself (and already barely cares about other imps as is)
Millie's internalized racism and her monologue about Wrathians only exist to be "muscle" puts some more stuff in perspective for me regarding Striker. His first few minutes of screentime was him treating Moxxie like shit for not being physically strong. He is reinforcing the idea that Wrathian imps only exist to be unrealistically tough, which I imagine would only hurt imps rather than actually help anyone
Millie's experience with IMP puts a lot into perspective to me, so get ready for another Striker analysis
I'm not sure if many people remember, but Striker was offered to work at IMP. IMP, the business that an imp started on his own that Striker himself admits is impressive, where imps can live up to their full potential, and is even named after the race. People constantly try to explain that working for rich people doesn't make him a hypocrite because "HE NEEDS THE MONEY AHEOHRBEVW" and "HE LIVES IN A MINESHAFT!!1!11!" But he had the perfect opportunity to not only make a decent living but also work amongst other imps and be part of a family, but instead he rejects that in favor of working with the rich assholes he hates so much (one of which is even more classist than his target) while committing lateral violence against other imps. He'd rather do that than actually advocate for change or support other imps... because, like I've said a million times, he does not care about other members of his race. Just himself
When I bring up Striker saying that he and Blitz are "superior than most of their kind" as proof he's a supremacist, people assume I mean "He has an ego so he's a supremacist" and not "This man really just implied that his race really is in fact inferior with a select few being the exception"
Idrgaf about his ego (or at least in this context) because he IS a sexy cowboy, don't get it twisted. But even if he was saying that someone ELSE is superior to most imps I'd still be raising a brow because wdym "our kind", bro. You could've just said superior to most demons. Why specifically your race?
Y'all gotta realize that Striker hating royalty/rich people isn't what makes him a supremacist, the problem is that he's racist towards OTHER IMPS
Considering the dialogue in this scene, it would seem that Striker is the one who sought out Crim. Crim has been mentioned to be rich and has been shown to be very greedy.
...So can we maybe stop using the "Working for rich people doesn't make him a hypocrite" card? Because it really seems like Striker is the one coming to them unprompted rather than vice versa
Interesting how Striker is always working for some rich, Capitalistic asshole every time he's in an episode
Striker defenders saying he can't be homophobic/transphobic because he's queer speaks volumes to me. It shows that you guys don't realize that members of marginalized groups can still oppress each other (ergo, queer people can be homophobic/transphobic, POC can be racist, ect), which explains why y'all are so insistent on defending & denying the lateral violence he's committed against other imps
Helluva Boss viewers need to stop talking about Striker like he's a civil rights activist
Activists want change. Striker wants revenge. He is working for himself rather than for the benefit of everyone
Begging Striker defenders to do research on lateral violence because it IS supremacy or at the very least a consequence of it.
Striker's treatment of other imps is a textbook example of lateral violence. The phrase "the oppressed become the oppressors of themselves and each other" describes Striker perfectly
He does not care about other imps, just himself
The reason why the "It's Hell" reasoning bothers me so much is because it's often in response to people trying to analyze a character's flaws. These characters are clearly meant to be analyzed and unfortunately, that means analyzing their mistakes, especially the ones that the narrative itself calls out
Especially since people are saying that Stella isn't an abuser, or that Stolas has done nothing to make Blitz think he looks down on him, that Striker isn't a hypocrite, that Verosika's obsession with Blitz isn't unhealthy... Of course I'm going to address these flaws, because some people don't even realize they exist.
I want people to understand that I'm not even hating these characters for their mistakes, and that I don't expect characters from a story set in Hell to be perfect. I can't really think of a Hellaverse character that I dislike. If anything, I want them to have flaws, because it adds nuance to the characters and the story.
But this "it's Hell" thing really just adds little to nothing to the conversation. This is why people don't like it when you say it.
I wished people realized that even if Striker isn't a supremacist in terms of race, he is still clearly meant to be a personification of toxic masculinity (Viv has liked posts pointing this out) so he's still a male supremacist since he follows the patriarchy lmao
My real problem with Striker working for Stella is the fact that it makes his speech about Blitz being "above sucking on a disgusting rich pompous Goetia" make 0 sense
He essentially said, "You're above sucking on royalty, join me and we can suck on an (arguably even more classist) royal!"
Huh?
"But she's paying him!"
And Blitz is making a living through Stolas, too. It still makes no sense because either option here includes "sucking up" to royalty. But one of them is worse than the other...
No one's forcing him to work for Stella
People saying Striker isn't a hypocrite is crazy because did you miss the part where he criticizes Blitz and Fizz for "meddling with bluebloods" when he does the same?
The whole "He's in it for the money" reasoning doesn't work here. Blitz is ALSO "meddling" with Stolas to make a living
I hope it's revealed that Striker and Stella are fucking, I think it'd be funny
Whatever you do don't think about Blitz facing Striker again and him mentioning how Stolas kept saying he was going to come for him and how well he triked that rich idiot into believing he cares, how much easier it made his job for him that he didn't
