May the Fourth be with you. Happy Star Wars day.
Sith!Obi-Wan Kenobi AU
The Negotiator
One of my favorite scenes in TCW is when Obi-Wan is fighting that slaver during the Zygerrian arc while Ahsoka and Anakin deactivate the bombs, and as soon as he’s certain all the bombs are deactivated, he’s just like “by the way, I was going easy on you.” Now imagine Sith Obi-Wan in that situation? Imagine if Anakin was taken hostage and his master turned Sith shows up to rescue him?
Started thinking about alterna!Obi today while opening at work. An Obi-Wan who Falls in the generator complex on Naboo in order to save Qui-Gon…
An Obi-Wan who’s banished from the Order because he used the Dark Side to beat a Sith…
An Obi-Wan whose Master defended him, but not nearly enough to save him, and ends up watching his Master take on a new Padawan only days after his banishment…
An Obi-Wan who’s hard and angry and just wants to tear something apart with his bare hands because he can’t contain his hurt…
An Obi-Wan who, when faced with Dooku trying to recruit him, goes “fuck this system” and forges his own way to use the Force, both Dark and Light…
An Obi-Wan who becomes a bounty hunter for the poor and helpless with no one else to turn to, whom the Outer Rim whispers about in the shadows…
An Obi-Wan who makes a living hunting down murderers and rapists and smugglers and bringing them to justice, but makes a life freeing slaves and finding homes for orphaned children and sheltering people who are just as lost as he is…
… and then I thought “what if this Darksider!Obi-Wan with snarky assholish tendencies gets tossed into a more canon universe, sees Rex and his pining-after-General-Kenobi-from-afar face, and goes ‘yep, that one, I want that one’.”
HNNGNN.
So. Uh. Hypothetically speaking, do you have a preferred for of bribery for writing? Askingforafriend.
Would it even need to be a more-canon universe by that point? If the rest of events followed the standard course, just with Qui-Gon there instead of Obi-Wan….
…And this particular alternate!Obi-Wan ends up working alongside the Generals at some point during the Clone Wars, perhaps undercover at someone’s (*cough*Anakin’s*cough*) suggestion to create a layer of plausible deniability as to why the hell you’re working with a bounty hunter you’re a Jedi you have a Code to follow dammit what is this?
Tbh I just want him to get Force-shunted over to a canonish AU so canon!Obi-Wan can see alterna!Obi-Wan tryna seduce Rex and just being all “nope no not cool that one’s mine I mean technically he’s Anakin’s and Cody is mine but that one’s mine too find your own.”
Basically, and this can be applied to any fic idea I come up with, I just wanna witness the ensuing shenanigans.
My brain took off running on it. Not really sorry, but I have a commission I’m meant to be finishing right now…
Reblogging for posterity. 😁
Sith!Obi-Wan I drew partly as a gift for @sj-loves-revolution and partly just to practice dramatic lighting

❎DO NOT REPOST🚫
The hero shows up at the villain’s doorstep one night. They’re shivering, bleeding, scared. There’s also a slightly dazed look in their eyes– they were drugged. They look like they were assaulted. Looking up at the villain, swaying slightly as they’re close to passing out, they mumble “…didn’t know where else to go…” then collapse into the villain’s arms.
Oooohhhh bitch
I said: “give me estranged qui gon and obi-wan. one of them has left the order, maybe? or “fallen” in the eyes of the jedi. and then this happens.”
and then @northisnotup said OH DAMN which was all the encouragement I needed:
Qui-Gon has left the Order. He is only talked about in hushed tones, something Initiates use to frighten each other. He is not quite… fallen, but not quite not-fallen, either. No one mentions him to his former padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, who has become a Knight of great renown.
Obi-Wan always knows where Qui-Gon is, though. He looks him up on his padd, his own ritual every time he returns to Coruscant after a mission. After that first wretched year, he always makes it a point to know. To be aware.
He hacks the database sometimes, uses the Council’s codes when he can.
Obi-Wan is held captive by Ventriss. He manages, eventually, to get himself free, but not until after he’s touched the dark side, because he’s been poisoned and tortured and he can’t seem to reach the light side of the Force. He kills Ventriss using the dark side of the Force, because it’s the only thing he can reach.
He has to dig through his brain to access the memory of Qui-Gon’s current whereabouts, so deeply has he buried it, trying to survive the most horrific pain he’s ever endured, the knowledge that– no. No.
He manages to drag himself into an escape pod, throw a bacta patch on the worst of his current wounds so he doesn’t actually bleed out on the way there, and sets the coordinates for Qui-Gon’s last known residence-in-exile. He blacks out, but wakes up again when the escape pod enters atmosphere. He lacks the strength to control his descent, and he crash lands.
His leg breaks.
He drags himself out of the wreckage. his senses are in complete disarray, every time he tries to access the Force it either slips away as if it is covered in soap and is repelled by his touch, or is only a void where the Force used to be or turns out to be the dark side. He isn’t sure which is worse.
He blindly picks a direction and forces himself to keep going. It will either be the right direction, or it will not. If it is not, he will die and at least be rid of this misery.
But no; he has to find Qui-Gon, has to, cannot face the idea of returning to the Order as he is, knowing what he knows, having done what he’s done.
He finds a cottage covered in plants. The loth-cat lolling on the walk takes one look at him, stretches, and runs into the house, yowling. He reaches the door at the same time as Qui-Gon and sways with the relief of finally, finally being able to stop.
“…didn’t know where else to go,” Obi-Wan says, and then his world is dark.
He feels large hands on him and they hurt worse than anything except the thought of those hands not touching him. He feels something warm and heavy envelop him and he doesn’t know if it’s Qui-Gon’s cloak or the blessed Force at last – and he doesn’t know what it says about him that he’s not sure which he’d prefer.
H-have I mentioned that @singelisilverslippers is a god damn gift??
