Astral Projection
This website tells a little bit about what it is, in case anyone isn't familiar. I've had a bit of an interest in it for the last few years, but I can't ever seem to relax enough to get into a deep state of meditation, and to be quite honest, i'm a bit scared. Well, I thought I'd share some tips that I'll be taking myself that I've found over the time, in case anyone else happens to be in the same boat as me.
First and foremost, one must achieve a totally relaxed state of mind. It is often easier to relax one part of the body at a time. I like to start from my feet, working my way up as I'm in a seated position. Just concentrate on feeling the muscles relax and lose tension as you count down from 100.
By the time you get to zero, counting slowly, you are very likely to have relaxed muscles and your breathing should be even. Concentrate on your breathing and lose all thought as you enter a state of mind bordering sleep.
Deepen that state of mind, but don't fall asleep (the hardest part for me!) as you continue to clear your mind of stress and thoughts.
After, you should enter what is called the "vibrational state". It's a vague term for what is thought to be the onset of projection. Your body kind of tingles. A good idea would be to learn to control those tingles, by focusing them into specific areas like your legs or hand.
After that, you may start to work on partial separation from the body, and ultimately full separation.
You would do this by focusing on leaving your body by using the vibrations to separate you. Tips include reaching out to something familiar and trying to reach through it.
