“What do you mean ‘They won’t come’?” you cried out as you held your stomach.

“I’m sorry. They haven’t changed their minds” Ben replied taking a seat at the side of the bed and gently stroking your arm.

“But-but they can’t just say no to helping me with labor just because we’re not married! They can’t do that. What about the doctor?”

“He was even worse than the midwives”

“Well, what about someone else? Like a mother? Someone who’s been through this before” another contraction made you groan and you started to panic.

“Do you really want me to go out there, trying every door to find someone to help?” you felt tears in your eyes.
