SECOND-BEST NICK/JESS ROMANTIC MOMENT: THEIR FIRST TIME

While it seemed pretty obvious that the Cooler kiss would earn first place in this category, I was very interested to see what the Roomfriends would pick for second place.  It would appear I’m not the only one whose heart stopped when Nick stops that elevator and carries Jess off to his room.  This moment from Virgins earned second place with a score of 2.81, and third place went to Nick’s birthday video for Jess with a score of 3.54. BEST SCHMIDT/CECE PLATONIC MOMENT: I HATE SLEEPING ALONE

Even from the fifth episode of the entire series, and no matter how much Cece tried to deny it, it was clear that there was something special between these two.  This scene from Cece Crashes won this category with a score of 2.5.  There was actually a tie for second place with a score of 3.35.  One was Schmidt standing up for Cece against that creepy guy in the first-class lounge in LAXmas, and the other was Schmidt saying he would never stop trying to make Cece happy in Oregon. Before I post the final two Awards, I want to make sure I give major credit and praise where it is due. The unbelievably lovely @youcantmakeme has made all (unless otherwise credited) the gifs and videos for not just these Awards but for the last several. Every time I slam her with lots of gif requests, she always has them ready as soon as she can. The Awards would not look nearly as good without her, so if you are thankful for her help, would you please like this post? And if you want to go a step beyond that, maybe reply to it or even message Mar yourself to thank her for all the work she’s done? And follow her if you haven’t already. We love you Mar ❤️

BEST SONG (NON-NESS): COTTON EYE JOE 

The boys could not have picked a better way to “sabo” Cece’s wedding to Shivrang then to cut to this song as she walked down the aisle in Elaine’s Big Day.  What made this song even better was the revelation that Nick can’t help but fist pump whenever he hears it.  It won the category with a score of 2.5.  An extremely close second place with a score of 2.69 was “The Saddest Song in the World” written and performed by the New Girl gang in Injured. BEST MALE RECURRING CHARACTER: TRAN

How can you not love Nick’s best friend?  I wish Ralph Ahn’s character has made a few more appearances, but maybe it was best that his appearances were scarce enough to make him that much more special.  Tran was the winner of this category with a score of 1.73.  A close second place went to Rob Reiner’s Bob Day with a score of 2.12. 

BEST WINSTON OUTFIT: BLUE FLAMINGO SHIRT

You gotta love Winston in a bird shirt.  This bright blue one with flamingos on it that he wore in Ready was the favorite of the Roomfriends with a score of 2.62.  This was definitely not a runaway winner, as several options were very close.  However, it was his James Wonder disguise that earned second place with a score of 3.15. 

BEST JESS OUTFIT: PURPLE DRESS

Like Nick and Schmidt at the beginning of the episode, voters loved Jess in this purple dress from Season 1′s Wedding.  There were so many adorable Jess outfits to chose from in 7 seasons, but the Roomfriends selected this as their favorite with a score of 2.31.  In second place with a score of 3.19 was another Season 1 look, the green shirt and polka dot shorts from Cece Crashes.  

MOST WISHED-FOR MOMENT/CALLBACK: WHAT HAPPENED IN THE ELEVATOR???

As thrilled as we were that NIck and Jess finally reunited at the end of Season 6′s finale Five Stars for Beezus, fans were left wanting even more.  Unfortunately Season 7 never revealed exactly what happened after their reunion kiss in the elevator, so it will be left to the imaginations and fanfictions of the Roomfriends.  This question won this category with a score of 2.42, and in second with a score of 3.31 was a reappearance the coin from Nick’s pocket during their first kiss.

BEST WINSTON/CECE MOMENT: WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING

One of the most unexpected things to come out of these series was the close friendship between these two, and the Roomfriends had plenty of great moments to choose from.  However, it was this moment from Season 5′s Bob & Carol & Nick & Schmidt that easily won this category with a score of 1.92.  In second place was the fantastic “Babe…yeah babe…no babe” exchange from Return to Sender with a score of 3.15.

BEST COACH SCENE: WATCHING WINSTON’S YAWN

Coach likes to pretend to be tough, but we know there’s a heart of gold underneath those tracksuits.  This moment won Coach’s category in Season 3, and now it has won the series edition with a score of 2.73.  A close second place went to his line about making a moist cake in Birthday with a score of 2.96.  

BEST NICK SCENE AND BEST SCHMIDT/NICK MOMENT: GOT YOU COOKIE

This classic New Girl scene from Season 2′s Models not only gave us a hilarious Nick Miller moment, but also one that showed how special Nick and Schmidt’s friendship is.  Specifically Nick’s “Gave you cookie, got you cookie” rant won his category with a score of 2.31, and in second place was Nick meeting Tran in Menzies with a score of 3.19.  This scene won best Schmidt/Nick moment with a score of 2.81, and second place with 3.35 went to Nick telling Schmidt why he will be a good husband in Road Trip. BEST CECE LINE: WARNING SCHMIDT

This hilarious line from Jaipur Aviv was the season six winner, and now voters have selected it as their series wide favorite Cece moment with a score of 2.38.  Hannah Simone is an under-appreciated gem.  In second place was the forever long “Whaaaaaaaa?!” she exclaimed in Table 34 as she found out Nick and Jess kissed.

LEAST FAVORITE STORYLINE: NICK DATES REAGAN FOR MOST OF SEASON 6

This was an extremely close category, as the top four options were all within 0.8 points of each other (2.73, 2.96, 3.12, and 3.50).  However, the winner was this frustrating relationship that lasted way too long and really only seemed to serve the purpose of keeping Nick and Jess apart.  in second place was another frustrating relationship from Season 6, Jess and Robby dating and then the even worse reveal that they were actually related.  No wonder Season 6 was voted as the worst one.

FAVORITE CHARACTER: NICK MILLER 

The Roomfriends community has always been very pro-Nick, so it should not come as a surprise that this was by far one of the most decisive victories.  Jake Johnson’s portrayal of the turtle-faced Nick Miller won with a score of 1.31 (earning 73% of first place votes).  Coming in a distant second with a score of 2.35 was the New Girl herself, Jessica Day.

BEST ENSEMBLE EPISODE: BACKGROUND CHECK

Not only did this season four episode win Funniest Episode in Round 1 of our Awards, but voters also picked it as the episode with the best use of New Girl’s talented ensemble cast with a score of 2.65.   In second place was the Overall Favorite Episode winner Cooler, with a score of 3.08

OVERALL FAVORITE EPISODE: COOLER

I mean...what can be said to summarize this iconic New Girl episode?  It’s a great ensemble episode for the cast, but of course, it’s The One Where Nick and Jess (FINALLY) Kiss.  Though it was not a runaway winner like some other categories, this episode won with a score of 1.88.  In second place was Quick Hardening Caulk with a score of 2.69.
