BEST SCHMIDT SCENE: TEACHING DICE
Technically the specific scene nominated here was that first scene of Schmidt teaching Jess about Dice in the bar, but I wonder if some of the voters were keeping in mind this entire episode, which was a great one for Schmidt, such as when he helps Jess get out of her bad dates. 42% of voters picked this one as their favorite scene of Schmidt’s for the season, and it was actually a 3-way tie for second place among the remaining options.
I will always remember that Nick revealing that he kept the coin literally made me gasp while watching for the first time. Just when I thought it could not get more romantic, they gave us this breathtaking kiss. Exactly 50% of voters picked these last moments from Birthday as one of the top Nick/Jess moments of the season. It was glorious to hear confirmation of something that the Roomfriends had long suspected - that Nick fell for Jess from Day 1. Now that we’ve seen the S6 finale and heard the story of the first time Nick laid eyes on her, that only makes this line even more special. 67% of voters picked this line from Exes as one of their favorite Nick/Jess moments of the season, which is a big deal since this was the season that they were actually together and there were lots of moments to choose from. Unfortunately for Schmece shippers, this was not the best romantic season for these two. However, as the nominations came in, I realized there were more moments than I at first realized. In fact, this was probably the closest category between all 4 options in the final voting. In the end, it was this sweet moment in the finale that won with 29% of the vote. This was another category where poor @youcantmakeme had to make a new GIF for me because the winner changed at the very last minute! 40% of viewers picked Merritt Wever as Elizabeth, who we got for 3 episodes this season. It was such a shame that she was involved with the Schmidt love triangle/cheating plot because I really liked her character, and I actually really liked her with Schmidt (just not quite as much as Cece). Only ONE vote behind was Jamie Lee Curtis as Jess’ mom.
Not only was it amazing to have Prince on an episode, but just knowing that he asked to be on the show and especially that he was such a Nick/Jess shipper makes him a winner in my book. 57% of voters selected Prince as their favorite male guest star. When the main character of the show gets to sing with an international superstar and the rest of the characters get to join them on stage, that song will win this category :). It might have stretched the lines of believability, but it was fun and you know the actors were having the time of their lives. This song earned 57% of the vote, and Get Lucky in The Captain earned 2nd with 20%.
This gorgeous, one-shoulder sparkly dress from Prince easily took the top prize with 53% of the vote. And it’s no wonder; the girl looks stunning. Past winners of this category have included more flashy choices such as the dress from Season 1′s Wedding or her red bridesmaid dress in Season 5′s Landing Gear. This season’s equivalent of that would probably be the final outfit that Prince picked for her, and that outfit did earn second place with 30% of the vote. Okay, this was precious. I love the little laugh when she says she got a great deal on Craigslist. I like that this speech was what it took for everyone to realize that they were all going to be okay even if Nick and Jess’ relationship status changed. 60% of voters picked this moment from All In as the best friendship moment. Here was one of the categories where the winner changed in literally the final moments of the voting process. In the end, Schmidt and Nick earned 45% of the vote and are once again winners in this category, as they were for seasons 1 and 2. Only ONE vote behind was the pairing of Jess and Cece. Coach has such a tough exterior that it is always fun to see his softer side. This great joke was also made even funnier when it was revealed that Jess enjoys watching Coach watch Winston. 53% of voters picked this scene from Big News as their favorite Coach moment of the season. I found it very interesting that all 4 of the finalists for this category were in the first 3 episodes of the season. Maybe that is fitting because it felt like the 3rd season was when the writers finally realized who Winston was, and just to let him wave his freak flag high. In the end, it was everything relating to Winston’s puzzling in All In that earned first place with 60% of the vote. Trying to save seats at the restaurant in Double Date was second with 27%.
