How Scoring Works

I thought these screenshots might better explain how the scoring works for our new ranking system.  These are the results for the Best Episode.  When someone submits their ranking, the episode that was ranked first is given 1 point, second place gets it 2 points, third place gets 3 points, and so on.  So lower scores are actually better than higher scores in this system.  When more and more people vote, each episode gets an average score.  That’s why Engram Pattersky, with its low average of 2.76, was the best rated episode.  And Tuesday Meeting had the highest average of 5.81, giving it the title of Worst Episode.

BEST EPISODE: ENGRAM PATTERSKY

It was clear from the beginning which episodes were going to win Best and Second Best Episodes, but which one would end up on top was a back and forth battle all week.  In the end, the winner turned out to be the series finale, with an average of 2.76.  I personally thought this was the perfect way to end the series, with several callbacks, guest stars, a very special flash forward, and Winston’s greatest prank, to remind us why we love these clowns so much. Was there any doubt?  Not only does this episode feature what is undeniably one of the hottest kisses to ever be on television, but it included an epic game of True American, great moments for Winston, and a hint of a resurrection of the Schmece romance.  68% of voters picked Cooler as one of their top 2 episodes of the season, with 38% picking it as their very top favorite.  (GIF credit: x)

Best Episode: Injured

This beautiful episode earned a whopping 49% of the vote, and for good reason.  This was arguably one of the most serious storylines that New Girl has ever tackled, yet the cancer storyline was done with humor as well as heart.  Not only did this episode feature nice Nick and Jess moments, it was a good episode for the entire gang altogether.  In second place with 32% of the vote was another Nick and Jess centric episode, The Landlord.  (GIF credit: x)

To the surprise of probably no one, the season finale earned a whopping 94% of the vote.  This episode showed Nick and Jess finally reuniting, Schmidt and Cece expecting a baby, and Winston making grown-up moves by calling his dad.  It’s no wonder that New Girl fans overwhelmingly picked this one as their favorite of the season.
