MOST WISHED-FOR MOMENT/CALLBACK: WHAT HAPPENED IN THE ELEVATOR???

As thrilled as we were that NIck and Jess finally reunited at the end of Season 6′s finale Five Stars for Beezus, fans were left wanting even more.  Unfortunately Season 7 never revealed exactly what happened after their reunion kiss in the elevator, so it will be left to the imaginations and fanfictions of the Roomfriends.  This question won this category with a score of 2.42, and in second with a score of 3.31 was a reappearance the coin from Nick’s pocket during their first kiss.

Best Schmidt/Cece Moment: Baby Announcement

Hannah Simone is a gifted comedienne, but her dramatic acting in this scene moved me in a powerful way.  Max Greenfield also did amazing work as Schmidt got to be the one to share the news with his wife.  This moment from 6x22 Five Stars for Beezus overwhelmingly won with 75% of the vote, and nothing else was even close.  I can’t wait to meet that Caramel Miracle (GIF credit: x)

Best Female Recurring Character/Guest Star: Sadie

This was another extremely close category, but the winner with 36% of the vote was June Diane Raphael as Sadie.  We had not seen Sadie for a little while, so it was wonderful to have her back to deliver the wonderful news about Cece in 6x22 Five Stars for Beezus.  Here’s to hoping we see more of Sadie during Cece’s pregnancy in season 7!  Only two votes behind Sadie was Rebecca Reid as Nadia, whose very brief appearance this season was enough for over a third of the Roomfriends to vote for her. BEST SONG: GREEN LIGHT BY LORDE

The song that closed out the season was the clear winner with 63% of the vote.  I’m so glad that New Girl was able to acquire the rights to this song because it truly was the perfect one to play while Nick and Jess are racing to each other at the end of 6x22 Five Stars for Beezus.  I hope to always associate this song with that beautiful moment.  Here is your friendly reminder to watch this video from FOX’s channel often so that we can continue to rack up those views and show FOX that we love New Girl and we want lots of Nick/Jess content in Season 7!  Second place in this category was The Time of My Life with 22% of the vote.

Best Callback: The Time of My Life

This was an extremely close category, particularly because 6x22 Five Stars for Beezus had so many amazing callbacks.  However, this one that referred all the way back to the pilot was the winner with 40% of the vote.  This callback was especially meaningful because it seemed like the writers recognized that, at least in Jess’ mind, Nick was the one who initiated rescuing Jess at the restaurant and singing to her, more so than Schmidt and Coach did.  It was always Nick.  Only two votes behind in second place for this category was an important Nick/Jess moment happening in the elevator. Best Friendship Moment: Schmidt helps Nick see the truth

With 69% of the vote, this one was no competition.  I know I was waiting all season for Schmidt to meddle in the Nick/Jess situation, and when he finally did in 6x22 Five Stars for Beezus, it was something special.   In a distant second place, with 14% of the vote, was Winston and Cece’s bean bag mess-around from Christmas Eve Eve. Best Episode: 6x22 Five Stars for Beezus

To the surprise of probably no one, the season finale earned a whopping 94% of the vote.  This episode showed Nick and Jess finally reuniting, Schmidt and Cece expecting a baby, and Winston making grown-up moves by calling his dad.  It’s no wonder that New Girl fans overwhelmingly picked this one as their favorite of the season. Thoughts on the New Girl finale

- Imagine that The Pepperwood Chronicles would play such a big part of this season, that it would make Nick into a writer and also bring him and Jess back together. I would have never imagined. I wonder what will happen with the bar now though – we haven’t seen Nick work there for such a long time. - It was so obvious that this episode was written by Liz Meriwether – it felt like the real, genuine New Girl was back that we all fell in love with in the first Place. Liz has to come back and write for season 7, she just HAS to!! - I can’t believe how quickly Aly has become a part of the gang – she just fits in completely with the rest of the guys. I really really hope she becomes a regular. - Aly found out Winston’s dad (what’s with New Girl and the guys’ dad issues by the way??) and Winston had the courage to call him – that was SO brave. Also so sweet, because he did it to inspire Jess to be brave too. - Max Greenfield really rocked this episode – he went from being Nick’s sincere, encouraging best friend to the hilarious one-liner Schmidt we all know and love: “Winston, stop calling, I’m on social media!!” (Schmidt making Snapchat bunny-faces) - I can’t tell you how impressed I am with Jake’s acting in this episode – we FINALLY saw some revelation in Nick. In just one episode, Jake took the audience on a journey from being oblivious and scared of admitting his feelings for Jess, to realization and determination and enlightenment. It was all in his eyes – I got goosebumps from just looking at them. - This was such a great ensemble episode with just the right amount of screen time for everyone, and almost everyone interacting with everyone. And we got to see Sadie again, yay!! - The parking spot parallel to Cece’s pregnancy was so well executed by Lamorne and Nasim – their sparkling eyes when they congratulated Cece to finding the last spot was…EVERYTHING. - Schmidt standing in the midst of thousands of flowers in their new home, telling Cece they are pregnant was just so…beautiful and romantic and unexpected – and so New Girl. - And….NESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I can’t believe this finally happened – Nick and Jess are back together y’all!!!!! I would have wished for more screen time together with Jake and Zooey, but I chose to believe this episode is the bridge to a well-deserved season 7, so we have many good things awaiting us! - Season 7 premiere speculation: opening credits with Nick and Jess making out in the loft couch, not being able to take their hands off each other. Winston complaining from the kitchen: “Get a ROOM guys – you’ve been acting like this all summer, don’t you ever get tired of sucking each other’s faces??” KEEP FAITH FOR A SEASON 7, ROOM FRIENDS!!! And please please keep tweeting FOX and commenting on FB and IG with #reNewGirl!

I agree with all of this 100%.  I know some people have been critical of Jake’s acting in the past couple seasons and even guessing that he seemed checked out of the show, but I think last night’s episode confirmed that it was solely the material that made it seem that way.  I think Jake has always thought that Nick was in love with Jess so he was having a hard time playing a character that was being written as not showing those feelings.  I have a feeling that season 7 will feature a return to the Nick/Jake Johnson that we all know and love.
