Lukeuary 2022
It's the last day of Lukeuary and I missed the Feb 13 prompt so I combined it with today's prompt in a single 100 word drabble:
Peace & Heartbroken
Luke exhaled uneven huffs. They were surrounded by bodies—the stormtrooper remnant that had attacked. His eyes stung, either from a surplus of denied tears or the wafts of blaster gas coating the valley. Wiping his face with a black-sleeved wrist, Luke shut off his lightsaber and turned to meet Anakin’s inquisitive stare.
“Are you sad?” the boy asked.
“Of course I’m sad,” Luke answered. “Peace is the path of the Jedi.” He sighed, putting a hand on Anakin’s shoulder. “They died because their leaders are too cowardly to fight themselves.”
“Then I’m sad too,” Anakin replied, starting to cry.
Day 2, from the Fictober 2020 prompt: “That’s the easy part.”
“When will I learn to fight?”
The young Jedi-in-training looked hopefully at Master Skywalker. Undisguised enthusiasm for all things involving lightsabers was not unique to his apprentices—teaching saber combat was one of Luke’s favorite things too, but he saved it until basic hand-to-hand defenses were ingrained.
“That’s the easy part.” Luke summoned a serious tone. “If we do our jobs right, a Jedi should avoid physical combat.” He sensed the disappointment at his words. “But,” Luke grinned, Force-tossing a training saber towards the recruit and pulling one to his own fingers, “doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun.”
I have been too busy lately to do drabbles for Lukeuary as planned, but I think this one I did for Evilmousetober a while back fits the drabble prompt of
Teach
So please accept this recycled offering about how amazing Master Skywalker is...and if you don’t like this drabble about teaching, there’s another one here.
May the Force be with You 💛💙
Lukeuary! Today’s 100 word drabble theme is:
Internal Conflict
Han slid into the booth across from his brother-in-law. Luke’s fingers were loosely wrapped around a Remote Terminator. Han cocked an eyebrow at the glass.
“Hope that thing isn’t randomized.”
The answer was a tightening of fingers and long swig of the liquid. “Preprogrammed is for cowards,” Luke muttered.
“Exactly,” Han grinned. “The coward who hasn’t asked Mara to the gala.”
With a groan, Luke met Han’s teasing eyes. “I don’t know what to do! She’ll have an excuse not to go.”
“Or say yes! Just ask her!” Han ordered.
“And if she agrees?”
“Then that’s three you owe me.”
Lukeuary! Today’s 100 word drabble theme is:
Warrior
Calm descended, a curtain of purpose that shielded the warrior as the turbolift doors opened. The Force was his ally, one that led him, flanked him, covered him with its veil of power as he faced each enemy. Surrendering to its guidance was the hard part—once that had been accomplished, Luke had learned to command it. His will and the will of the Force were one and the same, a deadly combination of control and submission. And no matter how many times the Force fought by his side, Luke never lost his respect, awe, or gratitude for its allegiance.
Lukeuary! Today’s 100 word drabble theme is:
Prophecy
sorry I’m a little late for the day but I’m here regardless!
“I just…” Luke trailed off as he reread the ancient text. “I never really believed in fate. Destiny.” He met Mara’s eyes. “Everything is a choice.”
She kissed the edge of his frown. “Maybe the Chosen One’s prophecy meant your father had to choose,” she murmured.
Luke sighed, turning to the other prophecy Tionne insisted was about him.
“…And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as THE SON OF THE SUNS”
“So come choose to save your wife’s evening,” Mara winked, pulling him towards the bedroom, “Son of the Suns.”
Lukeuary! Today’s 100 word drabble theme is:
Keepsake
The child stared, wide-eyed and solemn, as Luke held the pendant in his hand. It had fallen to the ground during training, and his student had earnestly communicated its importance.
“Of course you can keep it,” Luke assured Grogu, manipulating the fine chain, knotting and shortening the length to prevent future loss. “It’s a keepsake—something to remind you of the Mandalorian and his friendship.”
At the question that followed, Luke shook his head.
“Attachment isn’t the same thing as love. Which reminds me…”
The Jedi reached into his tunic, pulling out the carefully-wrapped gift.
“He brought this for you.”
Lukeuary! Today’s 100 word drabble theme:
“I sense something...”
Luke crept stealthily around the palatial Coruscant apartment. Hide and seek with his niece and nephews was always a popular game, but tonight Mara was helping babysit, so they played teams. Anakin tiptoed with exaggerated care in his footie pajamas, rounding the sofa in the reception salon.
“I sense something…” Luke whispered, jerking his head to indicate a pair of booted heels peeking out from the ornate curtains.
The toddler squealed, lunging like a tiny rakghoul with arms outstretched towards Mara’s feet.
“You found me!” she laughed as Anakin hugged her leg.
“Best ever discovery,” Luke grinned, kissing her cheek.

Lukeuary! Today’s drabble theme: “Temptation”
It had all been a trap. He had been so foolish, so unseeing.
Was this the destiny of those who followed the Light?
To see everything they loved, their friends destroyed before their eyes?
Obi-Wan lived in exile, alone. Yoda too.
Was the path of the Jedi friendless because the Light wasn’t strong enough to save them?
Family… He had to save Leia. Han…
But maybe… if he agreed, he could save everyone.
The battle would end, he could rule alongside his father.
And if he turned, he would save his father too.
Maybe…
Maybe he didn’t have a choice.

7 - Something Sweet
Lukeuary! Today’s theme: “Something Sweet”
I thought I would (instead of a drabble today), offer you the actual recipe for Corrupted Cake, which Luke makes for Han & Leia’s anniversary in my Luke/Mara sex pollen fic. (Click on the amazing art from @jadedjo above if you’d like to read). The recipe actually predates the fic 😁 as it was written to make my nephew laugh.
Corrupted Cake: Killik Bonding Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup Tauntaun milk
1 cup Bantha milk
1 tbsp Zeltron herb (preferably fresh but powdered will do)
1 cup Corellian Whiskey
2 Geejaw eggs
3 cups Pom Seed flour
1 cup Basa Root flour
3 tsp Kessinnamon spice
1/4 cup Sunberry wine
6 H'Kak beans
3 cups Trammistan chocolate chips
Pol Pollen to dust
1. Smash the H'Kak beans into mush and soak the mush in Corellian Whiskey overnight.
2. Mix the Geejaw eggs and Kessinnamon spice together and set aside.
3. Sift the two flours together and add the milks. Stir like a rabid rancor until smooth.
4. Add the Zeltron herb and Sunberry wine to the flour mixture and mix until everything takes on a light pink color.
5. Add the Trammistan chocolate chips and bean/whiskey mixture.
6. Coat a cylindrical cake mold (like an empty lightsaber hilt) with the spice mixture.
7. Pour in the cake batter and let sit in the fridge for 10 standard hours and 19 standard minutes. HAS TO BE EXACT.
7. When the batter has congealed and has the temperature of a wet wampa, dump onto a plate.
9. Sprinkle a dusting of Pol Pollen overall.
10. Eat raw and slowly digest for the next thousand years.

6 - Tested at the Brink
Lukeuary! Today’s drabble theme: “Leaving”
Luke walked away. It always felt like someone was leaving. The life of a Jedi seemed destined to be shadowed by constant, heart-breaking loss. His family… Ben… Yoda… then his father. It was foolish to put Mara in the same category—she may be leaving, but she wasn’t lost. She had her future, and he had his, and thinking they somehow could share the same one was impractical and unfair.
Pausing at the rooftop door, Luke tried to breathe in acceptance.
It was her decision.
“Hang on a minute,” Mara called. “I’ll come with you.”
“Thank the Force,” he whispered.
