“Don’t look so mortified, kid.” With a good-natured nudge, Han handed Luke a whiskey. “Have a drink, give her your autograph. It’s a celebration.”
“But...” Luke couldn’t speak, eyes wide.
The half-naked Zeltron before him offered a marker, baring her chest.
“I’m going to get it tattooed,” she breathed, “Luke Skywalker, in the flesh.” She dropped a sultry wink. “In my flesh.”
Blushing furiously, Luke scrawled his name above one well-shaped breast.
“Thanks, Mr. Hero,” his admirer smiled. “How many autographs have you signed tonight?”
“You were the first.”
“I won’t be the last, handsome,” she grinned, blowing a kiss.
Happy Birthday, man.
What was your ahah moment with Luke? For me, it was in 'Return of the Jedi' when he's in the Emperor's throne room. I just remember being like 12 and being like 'Him. I want him. I am obsessed with him. HIM!' Also hello again!
Hello back to you. 👋
So, for me, there was definitely something there on Dagobah. I mean, those arms? But it was really on Cloud City when I saw him in that full get up, hair flopping in the wind, being brave against losing odds, trying so so hard despite it not going as planned, showing total emotional vulnerability (which, honestly, was not something I was used to seeing in men as a young boy), that I was just like… wow. This is a man.
ANH Luke Skywalker: “They’re going to kill the princess, I don’t care what Obi-Wan said, I’m going to save her.”
ESB Luke Skywalker: “They’re torturing my friends, I don’t care what Yoda said, I’m going to save them.”
ROTJ Luke Skywalker: “I’m going to save you, and I’m going to save you, and I’m going to save you, and I don’t care what anyone says.”
i've always known luke was a massive nerd the moment i read about how fascinated he was about a species of fly from the story "luke on the bright side" and how he was more interested in reading a jedi book than swimming with his friends in the comics. he's curious about everything and anything and he loves learning new things! people, cultures, how things work, different kinds of creatures and the like! his starry eyes and love and open-mindedness makes him such a great character. he's honestly one of the best and healthiest depictions masculinity right next to aragorn. i love that so much about him <3
I consider Luke pretty high up there on the list of male characters who challenge the status quo. In a time of action heroes like the 80s, Luke was portrayed as patient and willing to lend an ear and saved the galaxy by being determinedly trusting instead of by fighting. I truly believe that the scene in rotj of Luke throwing his lightsaber aside and telling Sidious that he won’t fight is one of the biggest power moves ever portrayed in film.
I’m right there with you, anon. Luke’s aggressively non-aggressive nature is just. So good.
Rewatching A New Hope and guys. Guys.
We have all fallen for Han's propaganda.
Look, Han might think he's a suave, smooth-talking pilot-slash-smuggler who can outsmart a whole ship of Imperials, and that Luke's a naive little farmboy who's never seen hyperspace before, but honestly?
The whole time on the Death Star, it was Luke calling the shots. Luke bluffed an officer into thinking he was a stormtrooper with a bad comm unit; Han started shooting as soon as the door was open. Luke spent about 2 seconds on the altruistic argument - "but they'll kill her!" - before figuring out Han's angle and swapping to the argument that would win. Luke pulled out a cell block number as soon as the guard asked; Han famously fumbled the first comm call.
We give Luke a bad rap for being an idealistic farm kid, but he's not stupid. He knows when he's being scammed, although he might be a bit loud about calling it out; he's ready for trouble and pretty on the ball with coming up with cover stories. He might expect the best of people - but you know what? It works! People want to live up to those expectations - so they do. Han comes back. His father turns from the Dark Side. People listen.
Han might think he's an idiot, but when you look at everything Han gets up to himself...

in fics where luke gets plopped into the prequels i want every jedi within ten metres of him to think hes the weirdest jedi theyve ever seen. he has negative lightsaber form. he doesnt know what a kata is. he handstands when he meditates. his solution to sith is to try and have a chat. hes a political radical who keeps suggesting revolution. you ask him what the jedi code is and he says "kindness and compassion and helping those in need :) ". you ask how he used the force like that and he says some shit about how you are a luminous being limited only by your mind. the councils authority is just a suggestion. he is somehow the new favourite of both qui gon and yoda

Never. I’ll never turn to the darkside. I am a jedi, like my father before me.
Han scanned the mission brief quickly, scoffed and tossed it to the side. Other officers swallowed, muttered, tried not to look worried.
Madine leaned across the table.
“No concerns, General Solo?”
“This?!” Han grinned. “Take a stolen shuttle into Imperial space undetected, bluff past three checkpoints, use dated codes for the shield, land covertly on the forest moon, take out the guards, blast into the bunker before they sound the alarm, and blow the whole thing to hell?”
“Yes.”
“That’s all? Easy.”
“Then you’re saying you’ll lead the mission?”
Han nodded. “I’m saying you need me to pull it off.”
