Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, ep 24

  • Look at how everyone goes to defend Zi Qi. He's completely defeated and fully expects his sister to kill him. But she defends him because he is her brother. They may not be blood related but they are family. He's been by her side for years. She will not have some old man lecture him. Or her.
  • Though the old man saw more than they realized and Zi Qi's real nature is a lotus. What his means in terms of him being part demon, I don't know.
  • I really love how Yao spoke to Zi Qi alone. After all it was a matter between them. What she's really hurt about is that he kept it from her. She understands now how he's lived and the reason why he isolated himself. Yao is sorry for not seeing this
  • This whole incident has made the Bamboo squad become closer
  • Aww, I am so happy that Cui Cui found his grandfather
  • Miao Miao looks exactly like the Mu ancestor who saved everyone. She also had the same rainbow magic that Miao Miao now has
  • It appears that Miao Miao has the Heavenly Demon Catcher core while Zi Qi has the Guardian Master weapon. It would make more sense that they two different people but Fu Yi's master insists that this cannot be. I'm not sure what to thing but lol at him so dismissive of Zi Qi's fighting skills and ability to save the world
  • The little argument Zi Qi and Miao Miao had was so cute. Zi QI really will do anything for her. I do love how she's getting back at him for how he treated her when he was training her initially.
  • Not sure what to think of Fu Yi's master but there is clearly a reason he avoids the mirror room. I don't think he's a demon but I suppose that could be a possibility.

Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, ep 23

  • Zi Qi really does not want to be the Guardian Master
  • Yao and Fu Yi are so amused by Zi Qi bringing everything, down to chopsticks and iron pots, just to ensure Miao Miao's comfort. They go along with it though out of love and affection for him. After all he's never acted this way before
  • Zi Qi and Ruo Shi are half brothers. Ruo Shi drives home the idea of family does not need to be blood related. Zi Qi has probably never thought that someone could envy him but here Ruo Shi flat out tells him that he envies him and what he has with Yao and others. Love the little fist bump
  • Ruo Shi has grown on me slightly. But is he really not going to explain what the bracelet does? Or was that done off camera?
  • That Rainbow Core is really powerful. It's pretty funny how she keeps showing off to everyone
  • I was right that Fu Yi knew about Zi Qi being a half demon. Zi Qi definitely deflates when he learns that. I do like how Fu Yi is protecting Zi Qi. Not sure exactly how he knows that Miao Miao has been encouraging Zi Qi to tell Yao (unless he's spying them like he's done before). Fu Yi understands Zi Qi more than he thinks
  • Miao Miao is losing the sense of her true self. I had wondered that last episode because when she woke and told Zi Qi of her dream, she seemed genuinely confused by it. I had dismissed it, since she "confessed" that she was not Lin Yu and I figured maybe she was being vague. But she does not recognize herself when her shadow shows her in front of a computer. This must be one of the consequences of getting the Rainbow Core from the System. But then what does that mean for her tasks that the System has given her? If she has no goal of going home, then wouldn't that be end game as per the System's rules?
  • Fu Yi's master sucks

Ziqi going from telling Miaomiao in a previous episode to not pack so much stuff because it is better to have as little weight as possible to carry on the long journey they are on to packing up the things that Miaomiao used in the inn to take on their adventure so she is as comfortable as possible makes me love him more and more. He is grumpy, is an awkward bean, can be quite rude and is bad with words but is also so affectionate.

I’ve realised that no matter how many times and no matter in what form the world gives me the “grumpy and sad meow meow character learns to trust and love people” trope, I WILL eat it up every damn time

One thing I enjoy about him is how legitimately socially awkward he is. He carries himself when they're in public with a slight confusion and discomfort at all times, only completely relaxed when they're not totally surrounded by other people.

Like the show doesn't just tell us that he lacks social skills, or have him occasionally say rude things to show us that. It's something we see all the time! He's clearly just not quite at ease at so, so many points. It's in his carriage, his gestures, the way he fidgets and stands stiffly, and that he'll just kind of dart his eyes around, not even out of suspicion, but because he doesn't know what else to do.

They'll be walking around or in a restaurant and the way that DYX is acting shows that he is feeling a bit fish out of water, a little on edge. It's really, really good!

And then we get his reaction to being chosen as the crescent's master, and it really drives this home. This boy doesn't want or need attention from anyone but those he cares about. He doesn't have a desire to be a hero known to the world because who would want to be noticed that much? Him putting the sword back in the stone and leaving, then turning invisible the rest of the day? Iconic and relatable. He just wants to protect his sister and LMM. And all of this makes sense, when you consider how all his life he's been trying to hide his identity from everyone around him.

At the same time, he is trying. He pays attention.

When Yao tells him he has to cheer Miao Miao up, he makes the little bamboo helicopter. He buys the trinket she likes. When Miao Miao says that flowers are needed and romantic, he uses it for his confession. He also takes some of his social cues from Miao Miao.

He's always going to be socially awkward, but he's getting better and that's through Miao Maio and even Cui Cui.

I would just like to reiterate that San Ha's mom is awful. Hateful, hateful woman. She's just plain miserable and wants everyone around her to be miserable.

I'm amazed that San Ha lasted as long as he did. He needs to never see her again.

Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, ep 22

For the life of me, I cannot understand why they decided to call this Love Game in Eastern Fantasy (which doesn't make much sense) when The Guide to Capturing a Black Lotus was RIGHT THERE and make far more sense.

  • Rainbow Core with Black Lotus core YES PLEASE
  • Miao Miao unlocked the Rainbow Core through the system without reading the fine print which I am sure will have consequences
  • LMAO a her trying to remove the sword in the stone (this is basically King Arthur with demons)
  • Zi Qi is the one who can pull the sword so he's the Guardian Master, which is going to be complicated since he's also part demon
  • They so adorable, just wanting to cuddle like that all day.
  • Zi Qi has come so far. He likely would have had a freak out before when Miao Mao mentioned demons and his sister. But he was able to talk calmly about it. Also good on Miao Miao for bringing it up but also willing to let Zi Qi decide if he was okay to talk about it. He's hated this part of himself for so long, and I think it's been more of a burden on him to keep it a secret
  • Miao Miao is right. It is better that Yao finds out from Zi Qi first. She's also right in thinking that Yao would accept Zi Qi. She might have some anger at first, but she considers him her brother and he has been devoted to her. If she can accept Cui Cui, she will accept Zi Qi
  • Zi Qi chickens out but that is not really unexpected. I do like the nervous fidgeting with the chain. He's actually does this frequently and not only when he's nervous
  • Drunk Miao Miao, laying half on the floor and on the bed, is a MOOD
  • She does tell Zi Qi that she is not Lin Yu, but I don't think he fully gets what she means. Regardless, she is Miao Miao to him. He won't call her anything else.
  • I love, love how he gently caresses her hair and she grabs his hand to press it fully to her cheek. He's so hesitant and gentle with her and every time she does something like this he gets more confident
  • The next morning he teases her about the letter and he initiates the hug. It's such huge progress
  • Mostly they are really sweet and adorable, though I do think more heavy angst is coming because Miao Miao has somehow overloaded the system
  • She was warned about the Rainbow Core, which made her be part of the prophecy. Zi Qi is now the Guardian Master which was not in the OG story. Even Zi Qi warming up to Cui Cui is a big difference
  • I do think it might have also really just been a dream but triggered by how much she's changed the story and because of her feelings for Zi Qi. The longer she stays here, the harder it will be for her to leave.
  • The system is really the wild card in all this. What is actually the end goal? Why was Miao Miao given these specific tasks? How much of the story can she actually break before it destroys everything?

Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, ep 21

I have no idea why Viki didn't release ep 22 with 21. I know 22 is out there but alas, episode 22 is available "today" so in about 22-23 hours for me.

I don't actually have too much to say about this episode. Unfortunately, there was hardly any Miao Miao and Zi Qi so it felt a bit like a filler episode thought I know it's not. This episode really was to build more of the overall plot with the Resentful Woman since it must be all connected. I had a feeling the Dowager Consort was kinda terrible but she exceeded my expectations.

Mostly I am waiting for ep 22 because I know that 22 has Miao Miao and Zi Qi goodness.
