I very much respect how we as a fandom heard Lucien say “My apologies, you’ve arrived early” and immediately and unanimously concluded “Yeah right he’s been setting up this exact tableau for maximum dramatic effect for five whole hours.”

“You ready to see some crazy shit?” Dagen asks the Nein, but here’s the crazy shit the Nein have seen in the past month (twenty-eight days) alone, working backward:
- 13 Brussendar (today): An Archmage of the Assembly is dead, struck dead without apparent wounds with her corpse bleeding from the eyes and ears and her face frozen in horror. She is covered in tattoos-that-aren’t-tattoos that their formerly dead friend had. Through Speak with Dead, they learn cryptic but still unsettling information about the Nonagon and freeing the Somnovem.
- 12 Brussendar (yesterday): Jester, through Scrying, unknowingly witnesses Lucien loot Vess’ corpse. Lucien, immediately knowing he is being scried upon, invites the Nein to chase him across Foren.
- 7 Brussendar (six days ago): The undead Avantika climbs aboard their ship to steal the last key to the last seal to release Uk’otoa. She initially escapes into the sea, but the group chases her, half as killer whales, and Fjord strikes her down. They are unconvinced that this is the last they will see of Avantika.
- 2 Brussendar (eleven days ago): The Nein discover Molly’s grave empty, and that their late friend was raised from the dead fifty days prior.
- 26 Unndilar (fifteen days ago): An angelic emissary from the Moonweaver arrives to threaten to drag Artagan back to the Feywild, which may have taken Jester, and Fjord, with them.
- 20 Unndilar (twenty-one days ago): The Nein kill Vokodo and receive a vision of the city of Nine Eyes. The fight also included temporarily banishing two of their party into the Astral Sea by accident.
- 19 Unndilar (twenty-two days ago): The Nein investigate a waterfall that flows upwards and fight a group of angry ghosts, displaced from their original home onto Rumblecusp. With aid from Melora, they come to understand that Rumblecusp is composed of pieces inadvertently gathered as Vokodo fled from the city of Nine Eyes through the planes.
- 17 Unndilar (twenty-four days ago): The Nein realize that the villagers on Rumblecusp slowly lose their memories and senses of themselves the longer they remain on the island.
- 14 Unndilar (twenty-seven days ago): The Nein encounter a dragon turtle, a creature that usually is thought of as just myth through the Menagerie Coast and Swavain Islands.
And this isn’t even all the crazy shit they’ve seen in general.
