"Going beyond setting the human body in a natural environment, vickyalthaus has set her subject in what appears to be the familiar scene of a natural history museum. This combination, rather than simply pairing a model with live or taxidermied animals in a more natural state, calls into question our ideas of conservation, our relationship to animals, as well as our relationship to our own bodies. Offering very little titillation, the model’s nudity mirrors the animals, though the interaction appears off-putting, enhanced by the dimly lit room and drab staging. Perhaps the most interesting observation is that the nude model, merely stopping in and solely as a visitor, appears as unnatural as the stuffed animals that are meant to portray some example of our natural world."

Tate have released the template for their Digital Metrics Dashboard and licensed it under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported Licence so other museums and galleries can also use it.

The first digital dashboard we have created in this analytics journey allows us to monitor the overarching digital trends and get a snapshot of our digital activities each month across the website, social media and mobile apps. It includes an overview of how many people comes to the website, how they arrive, which content they visit and whether they engage with our content leaving comments in our blogs and videos. We publish this report monthly and it is distributed to the whole organisation.

Time to play with data!

Fabiola by Francis Alÿs

Fabiola is an installation of over 300 painted copies and reproductions of fourth century Saint-Fabiola, collected by Francis Alÿs from flea markets and antique shops throughout Europe and America in the last 20 years. They are all based on a now lost original painting by french artist Jean-Jacques Henner made in the nineteenth century.
