sorry for the unofficial hiatus. life gets in the way. i have most of the chapter written out but it’s getting kind of long so i might split it in two if it would benefit the flow and stretch out the raunchy scenes lol and MARK MY WORDS, there is raunchiness to come

like i’m sorry, but the van der linde gang are not a family and if you believe that, dutch has manipulated you too. dutch uses the family framework to keep those he manipulates loyal. hosea and dutch are not the “mum and dad”, that’s fanon characterisation. arthur and john are not the sons or brothers, they were both boys groomed by dutch into a lonely and selfish life, robbing and stealing. and though they are close and brotherLIKE, they are not brothers.
another newsflash- you can have messy romantic feelings with a friend that is so close you consider them a sibling. it’s not wholesome, it’s a bit weird and intense. but that’s kind of the point. that’s why people ship it. we’re not getting off on incestuous dynamics because the incest is not in the room w us rn. idk how to make it any clearer.
it just upsets me to see a lot of good rdr artists getting smeared on twitter by fans who think they’re a better person for not touching the morally dubious pairings. personally, it makes sense for me that this group of outlaws in the 1890s, who’ve lived so close to each other, would have intimate relationships. they’re not a cute family living out in the country, they’re a group of criminals who’ve done a lot worse than fuck a guy that they’ve grown up with. it’s so odd to imprint 2024 shipping morality politics onto a bunch of cowboys from 200 years ago. i guarantee your not winning any awards for playing it safe in fandom.

i think everyone is conflating fanon characterisation of their brotherly relationship with the canon presented by rockstar.
in rdr2 we know that dutch picked them both up as children and that arthur is at least 10 years older than john. correct me if im wrong but i think all we actually know about their shared history is very recent in that arthur is resentful towards him in chapter 1-2 because he’d recently run away from a pregnant abigail. and in rdr1 there is no mention of his past with arthur.
like if you’re nosy and unemployed and like attacking people for shipping incestuous and pedophillic ships— maybe don’t pick morston cause A) john and arthur and not brothers and B) despite having an age gap with arthur, we never see john as a child in rdr2 or 1
(also their ages are very much not common knowledge and i know that some casual players are shocked to realise that arthur is so much older than john because this information is very much in fine print)

That ship is not real. These characters are fictional.
The people you threaten and endanger for something like this are real people. You are ruining real lives.

I just today had a reaaaally fucking long “I promise I’ll make this brief” conversation with family about the recent drama on Twitter and the manufacturing of “pseudoincest” as a term to justify treating people like they aren’t human beings.

When you have to make up new things to be angry about and virtue signal over??? Signal your virtue by doing something productive like self reflecting why you feel the need to make up issues to “fix” in the world when there are actual things you can do to improve the world.
