sometimes i have an idea because the latest thing worked into my brain again but I don’t know how to actually execute it but I draw it out anyways, brain vomit and all. And then I ask “is it good enough? Is it good enough? Is it good enough?” even though it really wasn’t but I want someone to understand what I’m getting at

anyways can’t believe part of how I characterized Beet Cookje in my head for the last 4 years is canon

Beet x Sandwich Valentine’s Day HCS

(Yes I know it’s the last week of February)

  • Beet doesn’t usually care about Valentine’s Day too much most of the time; it’s just different this time because well, wow. She actually has a crush. Welp.
  • She actually doesn’t even remember about it until Sandwich decorates the store with Valentine’s decorations a few days before and tells Beet she’s holding a Valentine’s Day sale on Valentine’s Day. Beet manages to keep a straight face but internally she’s like o h Y E A H
  • Beet spends the remaining few days trying to figure out what she wants to do since Sandwich is her first crush and she doesn’t really know what she’s doing. She decides to try to make jam sandwiches with whipped cream in the shape of hearts. It turns out okay. She’s not exactly proud of the sandwiches, but they’ll work.
  • She also contemplated writing a note as well saying, “Hey uh...you really mean a lot to me and I’m really glad I met you.” with a following list of compliments. She wrote it out, but got too embarrassed to actually include that, so she just wrote a note that says, “Hey I wanted to make these for you. I hope you like them.” Beet forgets to actually put the first note away and Carrot just happens to find it on Beet’s desk while she’s looking for something.
  • Sandwich doesn’t actually know if Beet likes her or not. She actually does want to confess to Beet that she’s liked her for quite a while, but for some reason, it’s hard. A lot harder than talking about the different variations of a ham and a cheese sandwich. She imagines the possibilities of how it could turn out, and it kinda hurts.
  • Eventually, she decides that she’ll do what she does best. She’ll make a sandwich. But an original sandwich just for Beet. She knows that it doesn’t really do anything, but what else should she do? ...Well she could write some sort of note.
  • Sandwich ends up writing a heartfelt letter. You’re happy that Beet’s in your life. Beet’s like coming home, a cozy home with comfy chairs and a warm fireplace to sit by. A warm fire, not too bright like the sun, but bright and warm enough where you can fall asleep and feel the worries melt away slowly. Beet’s a good listener; she’s there when you need it. She might not realize it herself but she’s reliable and really cute. When she smiles, you feel your heart beat a little faster. Sometimes it’s a wide grin and other times, it’s a soft and shy smile. You hope that she continues to smile, and that you’ll be able to continue to see her smile too.
  • ...Why was that so sappy? Well thank goodness for Sandwich’s writing class. School was useful for once. Sandwich hopes it’s not too over the top, though the more she reads it, it sure does feel that way.
  • On Valentine’s Day, Beet shows up at Sandwich’s shop and says that she’s running an errand for Carrot Cookie and wanted to stop by her shop. That, in actuality, was a lie.
  • It’s not really much different than the other times Beet visits Sandwich. They ask each other how their day is going and Sandwich is holding Beet’s hand and it’s the same. Except it’s really not because it’s not.
  • Beet decides to pull the trigger first and gives Sandwich what she made first. They both eat the heart sandwiches that Beet made. Sandwich is really touched and happy that Beet made the sandwiches for her. Beet is trying to keep it together and very flustered. The note Beet wrote is hidden in the bag of the heart sandwiches.
  • Sandwich then gives her the sandwich she made with her letter also hidden away. She asks Beet to save the sandwich and eat it later, since it turned out to be a pretty big sandwich. Also, it’s to stall Beet from actually reading the note. She’s not mentally prepared for Beet’s reaction.
  • They finish talking and wish each other a Happy Valentine’s Day and Beet heads home. She’s at the train station, waiting for the train when she decides to eat the sandwich Sandwich gave her. She notices the letter squished in the bottom of the bag and reads it. She’s now very flustered and confused and slightly panicking? Does she? Does she? Does she? She? How much time is there left? Beet dashes out of the train station.
  • It’s closing hour. Sandwich’s finished cleaning up the shop. Well, except for the bag with the heart sandwiches Beet gave her. She’s about to throw it away when she notices the note Beet wrote. Reading it doesn’t make her feel any better. Does Beet like her? She doesn’t know.
  • Sandwich locks up the shop. She’s about to start walking to her apartment when she sees Beet running to her with something clenched in her hand. Oh that’s-
  • “Do you like me?”
  • Sandwich starts crying and so does Beet. Time stands still as they both cry. This isn’t real. There’s no way this is real. There’s no way.
  • They ask each other how long they’ve liked the other. For Beet, it was two weeks after they first met. For Sandwich, it was several months. Beet suddenly hugs Sandwich, and Sandwich hugs back, and they stand there for who knows how long. No one’s paying attention at that moment.

(So like. This started out as simply a headcanons thing but this does not feel like just a headcanons thing anymore uh.)
