Via Flickr: Here is an old photograph from my copy of the Fall 1954 edition of “Glamour Photography” magazine of the beautiful Italian actress, Pier Angeli. She was born as Anna Maria Pierangeli in Sardinia, Italy on June 19, 1932. During her career, she earned a Golden Globe award (her twin sister, Marisa Pavan, was an Academy Award winning actress), and acted alongside such Hollywood legends as Paul Newman and Kirk Douglas. She was also romantically involved with James Dean, Kirk Douglas, and the singer/actor, Vic Damone. She was married to Damone but was eventually involved in a nasty divorce from him. The pressures of life eventually became too great for her. She died in Los Angeles, California of a drug overdose on September 10, 1971 at the age of 39 years. She was a goddess…

“There are moments that I’ve had some real brilliance, you know. But I think they are moments. And sometimes, in a career, moments are enough.I never felt I played the great part. I never felt that I directed the great movie. And I can’t say that it’s anybody’s fault but my own.”
