I’ve seen lots of caddisfly larvae, and I love their portable cases. Generally they sit at the bottom of shallow water, or move around by holding on to to grasses and plants under water. This is the first time I’ve noticed them swimming through open water by flailing around (photos 3 and 4). So strange and interesting!
