Hey… it’s your anon from the other night who you said to come talk to you— I did PM you! It’s okay if you no longer want to talk of course, and I’m sorry if I’m bothering you, but given how glitchy tumblr is I was not sure if you’d received it. You don’t have to answer this ask either if you don’t want to. Also if you did intend to reply and are just busy that’s fine, I get that people have a life and stuff that’s more important than tumblr and fandom, and again, sorry to bother you. But like I said, given how glitchy tumblr can be (half the time despite having message notifications on I don’t actually get them), I just figured I’d reach out again just in case it didn’t go through.
Have a lovely day either way! /gen :)
Oh my god hiiii I didn’t see this until now!! How are you?? I’d love to be friends!
Write that jiratsu fic, yaaaaas! it's such an underrated pairing (sorry anon, I'm shy)
Aww this is the first ask i’ve gotten in a while. I appreciate you very much, anonymous or not! You’re right, it is one of the most underrated Naruto pairings for no real reason, especially since it’s so non-controversial. Tsunade would have given Jiraiya a chance if he had lived, so in my fic he will.
how do you not understand that it’s homophobic to complain about there being too many gay fics and not enough het ones
It’s not homophobic to wish for more variety of fics ???? I didn’t even MENTION het fics, at ALL. Anything is welcome. Stop intentionally twisting the discussion. I wasn’t even “complaining.” I don’t even have a problem with the ship, I didn’t say I wanted them gone, I don’t hate shippers, I’ve read some really great ones. Me wanting more Moira centric fics doesn’t mean I hate gay people. Sorry to disappoint.
she’s still a weirdo, she has kids and an entire husband at home like c’mon now. i’m glad she realized her mistakes though
I think for her it was like a fantasy come to life and someone was actually giving her attention and making her feel attractive. And she almost acted on it before she realized the consequences of that action which snapped her out of it. I know people understandably have a problem with the age gap, I think he was 18 (?) either way I don’t blame her for wanting more for herself but I knew she still had morals when everyone else gave up on her
i feel like kind of rewrite the edith/mary rivalry in their head. edith is constantly starting fights in season one, and challenging mary. not that mary doesnt get her hits in but edith isnt some innocent lamb being picked on as often as people think. to say nothing of the pamuk letter. by the end of season one edith herself pretty much torched that relationship but played the victim. i really want edith to have to own that letter in the movie but i know it wont happen.
As someone who just rewatched season 1 (I’m rewatching the whole show actually) I think I can shed some light on this. I’m beginning to think that it’s not that people rewrite the story in their heads, it’s the way Edith’s role in the Pamuk scandal was handled. Edith and Mary are established as antagonists to each other in the first episode, from Mary chastising Edith for crying over Patrick to her bothering her at the dinner table over the duke. They clearly dislike each other. This dynamic changes later in the show, but in the first season they establish that Edith is supposed to have “less advantages”.
For whatever reason, Julian sometimes tended to leave out key scenes that would conclude a storyline in a satisfying way. Like, we never got to see Cora or any of them really coming to terms with her miscarriage because that plot device was over. We saw O’Brien wrestling with guilt and it humanized her, but she left in an unceremonious way and it went nowhere for the rest of the show. We never see Sybil’s funeral, or Matthew’s. Ethel’s journey on the show ended abruptly too. He kind of surprised me by bringing Gwen back, but that was rare.
My point is “closure” isn’t really Julian’s thing, and it’s a big deal on the show when it happens. For him and his writing, life just goes on. The Pamuk scandal was major for a few seasons and yet we never saw Edith apologize to Mary, and it’s never mentioned that she did it. Why? Because I believe he made it manifest throughout the rest of the show. I don’t agree with how it was handled, but I think Mary thought she was above dealing with Edith. And Edith holds a grudge. When she writes that letter she betrays Mary and her family, and it’s meant to convey years of resentment.
The reason why I think people see Edith as more of a victim (whether they are right or wrong is up to you) is because while the Pamuk storyline concluded, the way Mary treated Edith kept going. After season 3 I don’t think it gets brought up again but almost every episode in the later seasons especially, Mary would say something mean and it seemed uncalled for. Even when Edith moved on she kept doing it. Again, neither sister ever really apologizes to each other. This is years of mutual hatred. But rather than side comments Mary dishes out, Edith waited until she thought she could really destroy her. Mary did the same thing in the final season in addition to the rudeness. And by that point they had gone through a war, the death of their sister, the death of Matthew, Edith being jilted at the altar, a house fire... etc. Edith had stopped, and while she doesn’t apologize, she did try to extend the olive branch to Mary a few times-notably right after Sybil died. Their interactions are always full of tension, because Mary understandably never really buried the hatchet and neither of them want to admit to being in the wrong. Maybe Pamuk should have been brought up in the final confrontation but he wasn’t, because I think to Julian that was already settled.
Absolutely. This part I understand. I guess for me, Gamora didn’t get the “glory” that any of the other characters did and she didn’t have as many movies to even develop. It seems like her death was a lot less insignificant to the plot and in the MCU as a whole. I realize that she’s not part of the central cast, but I don’t know… everyone got somewhat heroic deaths and either got brought back or had something hinted on the horizon for them. I’m pretty sure Gamora will be brought back in some capacity which is better than nothing but all that character development is just gone.
I know I’m petty, but I find it unfair because I think they did such a great job with her and she’s my favorite Marvel character.
please stop saying 'stronger than a marine' , i understand that you value the strength of someone in that moment and i value them too and i praise the strength of this individual. but you can praise it without degrading people in service. and yes, there are women in there alike the men, and in a way you are also degrading them as well. (if you want to look at it from strictly the perspective of women because via your comparisons) just please, they're strong, i get it but pick a dif line
Dude it’s a meme I obviously don’t think a guy that didn’t have sex with Marilyn Monroe is stronger than a marine it’s a joke
According to at least two sources MM slept with Joan Crawford
imma keep it real with you chief…. more rumors have been made up about marilyn monroe than any other person that has ever lived. literally anything that’s factual someone will try and deny it claiming they knew her or whatever. people legitimately make things up about her and get paid to do it, some 50 odd years after her death. this one is just erroneous and only tries to elicit shock. if she was straight (and i believe she was) that is okay. theres no evidence to suggest that she was anything other than a heterosexual woman.
