My long-winded sad ramble: When this story began, the world was different--and the way I saw the world was even more different than it really was, as we've discovered to our pain. Sometimes, the issues that drove this story feel so small compared to all the ways it seems the whole world is on fire.
But this story has been a comfort to me--and thanks to your comments, I know it has been to many of you--so I'm going to keep writing as much as I can.
Earlier, while feeling like absolute shit, I kept checking AO3, desperately hoping that one of my favorite stories had a new update to distract me from my current gloom. None of them had. But I realized this chapter just needed a final proofread to be ready, so maybe it can help dispel someone else’s gloom.

Dear friends,
It has been brought to my attention that because I embed images in my stories they’re not clear and welcoming for people with visual impairments. To remedy the situation, I’m learning how to add the image descriptions to the HTML so that, even though it won’t show for people without visual impairments, the screen reader can give a description to anyone who needs one.
The only problem is that I’m trying really hard to press forward with new chapters of P&P while also working a pretty darn demanding full time job. Going through to do all the image descriptions will take a while and feels daunting to me at the moment. So it occurred to me that this might be something to crowdsource and that people might be willing to help with.
I’ve made a google sheets that’s open access. If you’d like to write a description of one of the images--descriptions needed most urgently for the spreadsheets and post-its in the Surrender series--just add the Title of the story, the chapter where the image can be found, and your description of it (and the name you’d like used in your shout-out!). When I can, I’ll embed the descriptions in the HTML. You could describe one image, three, ten--whatever strikes your fancy and whatever you have time for. (I’ll do some too of course! I just felt overwhelmed at the thought of doing all of them…) And so that there’s no redundancy, you can see what’s already been done in the sheet.

Okay, gang. Here we go. This summer I’m going to make a BIG PUSH to get lots of P&P written (maybe drafted through to the end?). Because I’m starting to worry I’ll never finish... I basically don’t care about MCU canon anymore and working on P&P--much as I love it!--is starting to tip from ‘joy’ to ‘stress’ more and more often.
So. A few resolutions.
1) I’m going to skip anything that bores me. More hand waving ‘time passed; here’s what they did, anyway moving on . . .’ Because that needs to happen. And if it bores me writing it, it’s probably gonna bore you reading it.
2) Worry less. Ok. Easier said than done. But there are zillions of directions that I could expand this story--arcs I could persue, variations I could write. Maybe I’ll post one that isn’t as good as 22 other options. But it will exist and even if it’s not perfect it will probably be fine.
3) Some people won’t like stuff and I need to not worry or care. Mostly readers are polite enough to just quietly pass on by when they dislike things, but even if they don’t that’s not on me and I don’t have to please everyone. I’m not getting paid for this. It’s ok if it’s imperfect and I should enjoy writing and sharing and just bask in the kindness of people who DO like it.
I really REALLY REALLY want to finish Power and Paradox (and then maybe some of my other fics!) and I’m going to. Look at me go! *\o/*
If you want to cheer me on, I’ll take all the help I can get with gratitude. Musings and questions (about the characters, world building, whatever) are welcome! Also, if there are unanswered things in the fic (like, ‘why doesn’t Tony go into subspace?’) that you’re still wondering about, feel free to express interest or curiosities you may have.

I FINALLY DID IT! CHAPTER 60 IS LIVE!
Oh God, it feels so good to finally have this chapter DONE. There was material there I’d drafted verbally with my beta over three years ago and lots of moving parts... It was a total beast to put together, but it’s finally a thing that I (must) consider finished (for my sanity). I really really hope you like it!
Thank you SO MUCH for sticking with me all this time, even when I vanish for months at a time. I’m so grateful. I love this story and I love you.

My solution to problems with the end of this chapter was to end the chapter a little early and shove that stuff into the next chapter. (Things get a little complicated and I was struggling to communicate what I wanted to, and then it was getting really long and then . . . And then I cut the chapter in half so I could post!)
Life still super busy, but I’m making time to write and I’m feeling pretty good. P&P feels like a comfort again and I hope it brings you the joy it brings me. My beta continues to be the light of my life and my kitty just wants to sleep on my lap while I write.

Seriously, thank you all so much for cheering me on and sticking with me and making me feel loved and understood when I just couldn’t write (or even cope with life). You’re marvelous humans.
I really hope you’ll enjoy this chapter--it was a real struggle, first to get back into the story at all, and then to make this come together. (The photomanip at the end was SUPER HARD and it’s still got lots of imperfections, but I just couldn’t bear to keep poking at it...) I was going to get them to the Ranch in 56, but Tony REALLY wanted this part to get written too and then it was getting too long and the stuff at the Ranch got harder to write and . . . and . . . Anyway.
