Quite me.
My character trying to calm yours down.
Staring across across the Slytherin table into enemy territory (also known as the Gryffindor table), Narcissa continued to study Sirius. He was furious. She’d know that look on his face better than anyone. This was going to get ugly— and fast.
Narcissa broke her gaze for a moment as Bella cackled in the corner. Her beautiful and wicked sister sat proudly as the reigning 7th year. Her fawning admirers huddled closer as she detailed her recent triumphs over their rival house. Narcissa could not believe her audacity. As the lot laughed, Narcissa wanted to choke and wished that they would settle down already. So what if Sirius had been sorted into another house (stupid hat and its mistake), their cousin was still a Black. He was the same as them in flesh and blood. Bella was supposed to protect him or in the very least, warn him from any immediate danger. At another emitted cackle, Narcissa snapped her head and angrily picked up her books from the table. She refused to sit there any longer, pretending it was hilarious that Bella hurt Sirius; even if he was a Gryffindor. It would be up to her to fix things. They were cousins. Surely Narcissa could talk to him before he did anything foolish and this petty war continued. Narcissa was determined, striding with swinging blonde locks in the air to the Gryffindors, her appearance causing a few whispers along the way. She was breaking one of her own rules by going over to them. She shot a haughty look at the Mudbloods that were eyeing her as she approached Sirius. It wouldn’t be right for them to forget their place after all.
“Come, Sirius.” Narcissa ordered her cousin without any hesitation in her voice. He looked sullen and still angry. His eyes had lost their fire, no doubt from his overnight stay in the Infirmary. Narcissa tapped her foot while waiting for him to follow her. Of course he didn’t want to come at first. So stubborn— that much she agreed on with his mother, but not much else.
In the privacy of an abandoned hallway, Narcissa leaned down to the first year’s height. “I’m sorry that Bella hurt you. She should have been more careful.” She whispered, apologizing for her sister’s heinous crime.
“Sirius, look at me.” She demanded, placing both of her hands on his face. He was tiny, really. “It was wrong. But I don’t want you trying anything back.”
“She’s older than you. She could injure you… Even worse next time. I know you don’t want to hear this, but it’s for the best to let her win. You’ll have your chance to best her later… But now is not the time for that. I just want you to concentrate on getting strong again. And don’t let anyone know you’re hurt— that makes you an easy target for—.” Narcissa knew that she was rambling, but suddenly she had so much to say. “Just please… promise me, promise that you won’t confuse stupidity for bravery like the rest of your mates. Be better than that and make it up to her when you’re ready.”
